The Evenflo Silicone Steam Sanitizing Bag is designed to help eliminate harmful germs and bacteria from most pump parts, bottles, pacifiers, and more. Q: Can this silicone steam sanitizing bag be used with the top open so as to clean the interior of the microwave?

A: Hi Moonwolf, we have not tested the sanitizer steam bag for such purposes. The science behind the bag is that it closes to create a small space to bring the temperature up for sanitizing. This temperature probably cannot be duplicated in the microwave in general. Maybe try a quick google search for how to sanitize a microwave. Thanks!

A: Hi Katrina, The time it takes depends on the wattage of the microwave you use. Microwaves over 1100 watts take 90 seconds; 800-1100 watts takes 3 minutes; 500-720 watts takes 5 minutes. Hope this helps!

Q: I want to use this bag to sterilize face masks, I don’t want to put metal in the microwave, would I be able to put boiling water in this bag to generate steam?

A: Thank you for your inquiry. Evenflo Feeding has not tested our Silicone Steam Sanitization Bag for safety or effectiveness in the use of sanitizing facemasks. It is recommended to contact the facemask manufacturer to determine if steam sanitization is appropriate for the facemask material, as some materials are not microwave safe, and some materials should not get wet when sanitizing. Evenflo Feeding does not recommend the use of the Silicone Steam Sanitization Bag for materials that are not microwave safe or that should not get wet. Evenflo Feeding also cannot comment on the safety or effectiveness of sanitization of homemade facemasks with the Silicone Steam Sanitization Bag, as materials vary widely and may not be safe for microwave or steam use. Also, we cannot comment on the safety or effectiveness of using boiling water in the steam bag, as the Silicone Steam Sanitization Bag is designed to produce steam for a specific period of time to achieve sanitization in the microwave.

Bag is small. Wont fit a whole set of pump parts. Will only fit one bottle and one flange and it will have trouble closing.

Hi Willa, yes, the bag is "cozy" on purpose. We are happy to hear you are using it correctly by not overloading it. Overloading the bag can cause it to pop open during sanitizing, thus melting parts. It's better to only put it what fits comfortably, and then close the buttons using both hands to ensure it completely seals. Thanks!

Gets the job done and easy to hide away in my kitchen when not needed! I had a plastic microwave steamer before this one and realized how bulky and hard to store it was in my small kitchen space. I also love that I'll be able to use this one for many years.

This is the greatest invention ever. I dont have a dishwasher so I was constantly having to sterilize via boiling or using the plastic sterilizing bags which I hate using plastic and those can only be used so many times. This bag has changed my life and I want more of them! this would make such a good gift for a new mom!

I love that this is not disposable like other products but the snap seal does have limitations. I cannot fit all the pieces of my breast pump in a single session and have to do two separate ones if I want the bag to seal completely. I do occasionally use it with only 2/3 of the bag fully closed due to time restraints. Overall this is a good product for the price but I wish it was a TAD larger to work with the capacity I need.

This product is good in the sense that it’s reusable. I found that this bag didn’t hold nearly as much as the Medela bags and it seemed to take longer for items to cool down. If having a reusable item is important and you have time to do more rounds/let it cool longer than this item could be great for you, but I found that I just didn’t have the time for those things.

This is my second child, and I used the disposable sanitizing bags with my first and for awhile with my second, so I can compare this to the disposable bags. While I love the idea of making a non-disposable option for microwave sanitizing bags, this isn't a good purchase. The fasteners do not stay fastened, even when it is under filled. This bag is too small to hold many parts, causing me to have to microwave three batches when I'm washing my pump parts and bottles from the day. Lastly, I have noticed some damage to my bottles that weren't there before. I believe this bag actually damages the parts whereas the disposable bags did not (as long as you put water in them).

Love this sanitizer for my 1st baby. Very easy to use. I noticed people had a issue with the closure. I find if you push in the buttons and bend a bit to either side it stays closed, at least it worked for me.

I really like the idea of this bag!! Unfortunately the buttons won't stay shut even with nothing at all in the bag :( I wish the buttons were bigger and this worked as intended to.

I was excited to see a reusable bag but the evenflo 8oz bottles don’t fit in this and it’s supposed to fit 2 bottles and the tops but it won’t close if you put two in so you have to do one at a time and the bottle has to be angled. I’m upset about the purchase.
