I bought two of these alarms about a year and a half ago and even though others have written about how bad this model is, I wanted to add my two-cent worth. About 4 to 6 months after installing these alarms, the one in our front bedroom started sounding an alarm for no reason (no smoke, dust, or anything else in the area). After turning it off and reinstalling, I tried again, but the same thing happened a short time later so I deactivated it. I have two other alarms nearby (two other bedrooms) and they did not detect smoke or sound an alarm. Now, a year & a half later, the other one starts going off for no reason. I called the 800 number on the back of the alarms today and, after telling my story, they are sending me two new (new model) alarms. So, if anyone is still having problems with this model, call the number on the back of the unit and they'll probably replace yours as well (I think they know this model is a lemon).
