Q: Is this good for a large area or should you have more than one?

submitted by KG - 6 years ago
  • A: We have ours in a room that opens up to most of our bedrooms. I believe that a large home could benefit from multiple devices.

submitted byBJOH - 6 years ago
  • A: If your large area is open floor space (no doors), than you won't need as many detectors. As a rule of thumb, I have one by every source of natural gas. EX: Kitchen, Laundry Room, & Sun Room. I have one in every bedroom, and one in the garage. I hope this helps you.

    submitted byDad1969 - 6 years ago
  • A: Thank you for reaching out. We recommend that you place one alarm on every floor and one in every bedroom.

Q: Does the peak level display at all times?

submitted by Love2shop - 4 years ago
  • A: No. The display is only on when you test or when there is an alarm

submitted bySara - 3 years ago
  • A: Thank you for reaching out. This detector continuously monitors CO levels. If you have any additional questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach us at reviews@firstalert.com or contact our Support Team at 1 (800)-323-9005.

simple to install, literally just plug and go. You don't have to worry about replacing battery as long as you have electricity the monitor will work. Digital display makes things easier to read as well.

So far, so good! No issues setting it up and it worked properly when tested. Based on other reviews, I made sure to check the manufacture date. It was a little tough to get the adaptor out to get to it, but I was very relieved to see it was made last month.

Although, I hope I never get the chance to see if it works well for it's purpose, I like its dual use. It can be plugged in directly, without a cord , or you can also pull out the coiled cord stuffed into the back of it. That way you can also mount it farther away on the wall.

I bought two of these and one of them broke after less than a year. It kept beeping even after putting multiple new batteries and was flashing END. Meaning end of life. It's supposed to last for 10 years. Junk

Decent alarm. Looks ok in the house, seems to function. The buttons are a little unresponsive, in particular the "Peak Level" button tends to not respond even after pressing it multiple times.

Lots of good features. I like that it plugs into a wall socket and yet had battery backup. Could be a little more appealing design, so that's something to work on. Good directions.

First Alert Should put the Manufacturing Date on the Package.

I am very disappointed with Target and more so, First Alert. This monitor will automatically shut down at seven years. That is appropriate. The seven years is from the manufacturing date. When you buy it, the manufacturing date is not visible. These are sold in clamshell packaging. First Alert puts the manufacturing date on the back of the monitor, only visible when you pull the plug off the back. The one I bought was 1.5 years old. I complained to First Alert via their customer service email and was told you can complain/work it out with Target; it is not First Alert's problem. I replied that First Alert should put the manufacturing date or the expiration date on the package. I received no reply. By the way, the monitor is nice, but just be aware that the backlit screen is not on unless there is a problem with CO levels or you test the monitor.
