This is my go to hair gel, and I have been using it for years! It holds well without being crunchy. I also never get white flakes or anything like that. I use it when I curl my hair and primarily to tame flyaways when I put my hair up. Love it!

Sad to see so many poor reviews about the strong hold and trying to brush hair with gel in it *confused look.* Girl, kindly, wash your hair :) Pros/Cons: Okay so I have 4a-4b low-med density hair fine hair and the first time I used this product, although I loved the scent and the slippery consistency made application a BREEZE, once dried it did make my hair VERY firm and when I tried to manipulate my hair I could feel tension on my scalp and breakage. It did elongate my curls and I got compliments on how it looked longer & very nice. My solution: I decided to add a healthy amount of avocado butter (oil would work too) to my hair with the gel application. This solved the issue! I had all the slip, all the definition, and my hair was flexible and softer than using the gel alone. The strong hold keeps my curls from tangling during the week so it prevents hair loss and detangling in the shower is MUCH easier than after using a leave-in conditioner. My only complaint is I wish the size was bigger for the price. Moral of the story: don't bash a product bc it doesn't work for your hair type or application/removal method. For some of us it is perfect!

I loved this hair gel, used it every day, and it was a dream. Then, a few months ago, the bottle I purchased had a weird consistency. Very clumpy, I couldn't break it up by rubbing it in my hands, wouldn't blend into my hair; it made my hair look like the hair gel from There's Something About Mary, and it wasn't pretty. I ended up throwing away that bottle, sure it was a fluke, and I purchased another, but had the same effect/same experience with the clumping and hair gel not dissolving.

One of my FAVORITE drugstore brand gels with strong hold!!! I use with the argan oil leave-in, which I’m also enjoying. I really like it for summer! I’m only leaving a review because I hope Garnier Fructis never discontinues this gel!! The formula and everything is great! The scent is not the prettiest but it’s not terrible either but I will take a good gel over scent any day! I have fine, frizzy, curly hair and hard to find a perfect gel. A couple of things I didn’t like but there’s a higher probability it was the way I used it and not so much the gel itself.

Garnier says this is better than Super Stiff, but this is weak sauce. Hold is a 3 instead of 4. Judging by reviews of Super Stiff, people obviously liked it better than this. Maybe this is good for people looking for this type of hold, but it's definitely not comparable.
