Q: Can you turn the night light and sounds of the Hatch Rest 2nd Gen All-in-one Sleep Machine, Nightlight & Sound Machine on and off without the app or do you need a phone?

A: The device has buttons on the back that can control the brightness and volume. You can also set presets that allow you to tap the top of the device to start a program. You do need to use the app to set up these presets and programs.

Q: Is the Rest Gen 2 portable? I know the Rest+ Gen 1 had audio monitoring, do any of the Gen 2's have audio monitoring?

A: Great questions! The Rest 2nd Gen does not have a back up battery. Unfortunately, both the Rest 2nd Gen and the Rest+ 2nd Gen do not have an audio monitor. We hope this helps!

Q: Does this connect by bluetooth? Has anyone travelled with the Hatch and stayed at a hotel? Does it connect to hotel wifi that are not password protected, but rather requires a login with username?

Honestly, I loved this for the 2 months it worked. It was great. My daughter loved the sound, I loved it, my husband loved it. But it all of sudden just quit working. We used white noise and it started to just make white noise sounds and then tap out every 10 seconds. It was ridiculous and woke up my daughter. Then, it stopped connecting to wifi randomly. Seriously, for the price it is NOT worth it. Such a hassle and so much stress trying to get it to work to lay our baby girl down.

If I could give this 0 stars, I would. The device has to be connected to Wi-Fi and won’t play any sound without it. Good luck trying to get this set up while traveling or without consistent internet.

I’ve had it for two months and it sucks!! My return window closed otherwise I would have returned it. Only two months and the app glitches, it won’t turn off the light or won’t change sounds I expected a lot more than this especially for the price! And it also has to stay plugged in 24/7.

We've had the first gen for 2 years. Works great, sometimes will disconnect from app but connect again after a few mins but the second gen!!!! Bought 2 of them and non of them ever connected to wifi. Spent so much time researching online and trying things. Nothing worked. What a waste of time!!! We returned both and will be buying something way less cheaper.

after hearing mixed feeling about this sound machine/alarm clock I was unsure. But really needed something with my first baby due soon. I ordered it, and decided to wait to set it up till he made his arrival.---- well he's now 4 days old and I've been trying to get this thing to make sound for the last 48 hours to no avail. which the sound is the entire reason to get the thing. I've trouble shooted, reset, looked up everything online. and apparently the sound not working is common. which is crazy since the price of the hunk of plastic that lights up is so expensive. hopefully tech support though hatch will get it to work. they better.

I have two 3 year olds, one biological, one foster. We had a lot of challenges when our foster son joined us and sleep was one of them! Both 3 year olds would both end up in our room almost every night. They would often alternate timing so that one would come into our room at 1 am and the other at 4 am, ensuring my sleep was disrupted multiple times. I ordered two Hatches at 5 am one morning when I was so frustrated by my lack of sleep! It took a few nights but they finally got the hang of it. While they don’t stay in their rooms every single night, it’s more often than not now and more likely only one will come down. This is a win in my book! I’ll also point out that foster kids, given the trauma of being moved to a new home/family, are notoriously bad sleepers. While this was one of many things we implemented to help our little guy, this was a piece of the improved-sleep puzzle, and that is amazing in itself!! I’m a fan!!

Recently my toddler has been having such a hard time getting down for naps and getting to sleep at night, it takes us hrs some nights. Last night it took us 2hrs to get her down. Today we went straight to target to pick up the hatch machine. Within 30mins she was out! I can not express how absolutely happy I am with this product.

After using it for 18 months getting a new cord and trying to reset it and all because that’s what they said to try it is the speaker itself is broken and there is nothing they can do. I really did love it up to this point but I just don’t want to re buy it every 18 months for my baby to sleep with it.
