@realtimemomaz Play Dough Sugar Cookies . . We still had some Valentine’s stuff leftover and a rainy day after school, so we whipped up some homemade “sugar cookie” play dough scented with vanilla and made ourselves a cookie decorating set-up. We even added real rose petals from V-Day gifts to our “ingredients” along with real sprinkles and “I ❤️ U” cookie cutters. . . I’ve been wanting to use these shakers I grabbed at dollartree awhile back because they looked super fun for little hands and they definitely were. The boys loved opening and closing and shaking the sprinkles out— I love that they are getting that very important fine motor practice & practice with practical life skills! . . Kitchen tools can easily become materials your kids use during play. They don’t have to be in a Kid’s Section & definitely can be the REAL DEAL. The more authentic and realistic play is, the more engaged kids tend to become. They’re always looking to “grow up” so here’s their chance in a low-stress, non-threatening environment to learn in. . . If you’re wondering: Yes, the sprinkles were a huge mess. No I haven’t cleaned it yet, but I know the mess was worth the fun we had together on a rainy day, and I know the boys learned a ton through PLAY. . .
