Q: What color do you recommend for auburn hair??
submitted by Auburned - 1 month ago
A: Hello! Depending on if your hair is more of a light or medium auburn, we would recommend either our Sabbia for light auburn hair, or Terra for medium auburn hair.

Q: If you put it on your roots, do you have to wash it out before you go to the hair salon to have the stylist put on permanent color? I understand that with some products, the stylist can color directly over it without affecting the permanent hair color.
submitted by Ranger - 2 months ago
A: Hello! Yes, all hair color takes best on clean, dry hair, free of product, so we do recommending shampooing this out before coloring.

Summary of reviews
The Madison Reed Root Touch Up Powder offers a versatile solution for covering gray roots, enhancing eyebrows, and even serving as an eyeshadow alternative. While many guests appreciate its long-lasting coverage and dual-purpose use, some have noted issues with the amount of product, application brush quality, and coverage effectiveness. Despite these concerns, it remains a popular choice for those seeking a temporary touch-up between salon visits.

I have medium/dark brown hair, but I do blonde highlights, and the toner bumps up my roots lighter. I like this color, Tara but I do not use it on my roots. I use it on my eyebrows and apply it with a MAC brow angled brush. I used to use MAC brow powder, but I like this just as well been using for a few years now. One compact will last about a year.

I was hoping that the Sabia light brown touch up powder would help with my gray area around my temple area. The powder has a slight reddish tone to it, which didn't work with my dark golden blonde color.
Also, when I tinted my hair, it did not take where the touch up powder was put in prior.
I called to discuss with a licensed stylist there, and pretty much found out that there was not a better color option for me, They don't have a dark blonde powder color.
I have about 20 percent gray hair on top and side of face. I love the Lucia dark blonde tint color!

Makes you feel more confident when you aren't ready to color just yet. I have dark hair so my grays really show. This allows me to soften those harsh lines and gives me a few more days before I color without looking like a skunk.

An expensive eyeshadow!

It is basically an expensive eyeshadow. All of the positive reviews are from people who received it for free in exchange for a review. Also, most of the positive review pictures show the product unused. LOL When it's applied, it doesn't look natural. It looks like you have powder sitting in/on your hair. Also, it does come off on shirts and anything else that touches your hair. Just buy a cheap eyeshadow instead!
I would not buy this product again

When I went to the store I was looking for Gray Away (used to be carried by you). This product was way overpriced for what it does. I do not like it at all.

Convenient to have brush for application but the product does not completely cover gray roots, just darkens the hair so the gray isn't as noticeable.
Looks like less powder than before...

I was disappointed with the amount of touch up powder. I compared it with one I had bought previously a few years ago and there was less powder. The case is also thinner and mirror smaller. Although the Net.Wt. showed to be the same I don't think the powder is equal to my other Madison-Reed Root Touch Up, Dark Brown. I haven't tried the brow brushes yet. I hadn't realized they were included. I just feel the quality has definitely changed. Also, just noticed the brush for the root touch up is shorter in length.
Thank you for taking the time to read this follow up review.
Best,
Maria

I was so excited to try this because I like their other products. I'm sitting here with a dark brown scalp so that my white hairs show up even more. Now I have to wash my hair again because I can't go out looking like this. Also ruined a pillow. If you're trying to make your scalp darker, this is a great product. If you're trying to darken your hair - I don't get it.

Coverage not as good as other powder product for covering greys. I had to put so much on, too much work

Am a 70 yr old woman. Always have had thin hair, but now it's terribly thin. Dark brown hair, which is colored every 6 weeks. I use this not only to cover gray between salon visits, but also to cover my scalp in an area that the hair is so thin. I love this product. Am purchasing for a 2nd time today. Lasted for months. I apply this product after washing my hair. Every 5-7 days.
perfect for brows & dark eyeshadow

Maybe it's my course hair, but the product only darkens my scalp not the hair so the gray hair is more noticeable ...defeats the objective. HOWEVER it is wonderful for making eyebrows look fuller. I use my eyebrow brush instead of the applicator that comes with it. ALSO good for dark eyeshadow replacement applying to your lid.

Cover Up grey roots, hiding sparse and thinning areas, build beautiful brows. This product does it all and stays in place… no embarrassing transfer… stays until you wash your face or shampoo your hair. Love the two brushes! Brilliant!
