Q: Is this the new version with extended battery life?

submitted by Me - 4 years ago
  • A: Hi, Me! Regarding your question about the Nintendo Switch with Gray Joy-Con: Yes, this model is the new version. The new versions of this console with the extended battery life have an all red box with the console featured on the right while the old version has a grey background with a hand reaching towards the console from the top right. If you have any additional questions, please do not hesitate to contact MyTGTtech at 877-698-4883 every day, between 7am-11pm CST.

submitted byRebecca - 4 years ago

  • A: No, THE NEW MODEL NUMBER IS HAD! not HAC. Don't listen to them. If this bundle says HAC then the battery life is the older version. I believe they have this $299 bundle because they're trying to get rid of the old version.

    submitted byMEM93 - 4 years ago
  • A: According to Nintendo.com/switch/tech-specs/, HAC-001(-01) is the newer one with 4.5 - 9 hours of battery life, while HAC-001 has 2.5 - 6.5 hours. Since they say this is HAC-001(-01) with 4.5 - 9 hours of battery life, and the box in the picture is the newer all-red rather than the older red-and-grey, I'd say it's pretty clear it's the new version.

submitted bySchezacn - 4 years ago
  • A: Actually, the way to identify if it's a new model is by looking at the box, the newer versions have a full red box like this one

submitted byGio - 4 years ago
  • A: it's HAC not HAD and the actual price on the nintendo website is $299, this is the new version with an extended battery life.

submitted bydodo - 4 years ago
  • A: Yes, I was reading an article about the newer model and the new version will say HAC-001(-01) model and serial number should start with XKW, which is what is listed under this description.

submitted byafremin - 4 years ago
  • A: New Nintendo Switch (2019) has red background on box Model number: HAC-001(-01). Product serial number: Begins with XKW. Product description: Battery life approximately 4.5 to 9 hours.

submitted byKDH - 4 years ago
  • A: MEM93 is PARTIALLY correct. The new model with the better battery life actually has 2 different model numbers. HAC-001-01 is one of the model numbers that has the better battery life, AND model numbers that start with HAD will also have the better battery. If the model starts with HAC but is missing the extra "-01" at the end, it is NOT a new model. The older models will also have white on the box and display the red and blue joycons. Polygon.com and NintendoLife.com are just a few of the sites that have details.

Q: Can you play old Wii and Wii U games on it?

submitted by Stoddt - 7 years ago

    submitted byab40 - 7 years ago

  • A: It's not compatible with Wii or Wii U games (Switch uses cartridges, not discs), but it will get a version of Mario Kart 8, a sequel to Splatoon, etc.

submitted bypoppies - 7 years ago
  • A: no the wii and wii u use disks but the switch uses cartrages.

submitted byswitchlover - 7 years ago
  • A: Sadly, no. The Switch uses cartridges, not discs.

submitted byTheGamingWeeb - 7 years ago

Q: What kind of games will it play? Will it at DS or Cometely new games only made for the switch

submitted by Sunflower0607 - 7 years ago
  • A: Yes they are slightly thicker and a little larger. As of now nintendo says the switch will not be able to play physical games from older systems. Though they have not commented on virtual store abilities/versions.

submitted byLumpyKitty - 7 years ago
  • A: Only new games made for the Nintendo switch.

submitted byNintendo Guy - 7 years ago
  • A: New games mostly, but will have re-releases, and virtual console to digitally download older games.

submitted byHeath - 7 years ago
  • A: Switch uses completely new games. Not backwards compatible. However, it will feature a new version of Mario Kart 8, a sequel to Splatoon, and many other great titles.

submitted bypoppies - 7 years ago
  • A: New game cards, different size than the DS

submitted by Poochi - 7 years ago

Q: does the switch have a microphone

submitted by Orangefireman - 7 years ago
  • A: It does not have a built in microphone but you can plug in a headset with a mic using the audio jack. So basically, you need a headset if you want to talk to people through the Switch.

submitted bySugarMcReggieBills - 7 years ago
  • A: Yes Nintendo did say it would have a microphone built into it.

    submitted byKaiMaster6 - 7 years ago
  • A: No it does not. If you want to talk through the console you will have to buy and headset and all that jack

submitted byMiaCatz - 7 years ago
  • A: Nope it does not have a mic not that I think

submitted byIon - 7 years ago

Q: This is my first time buying something on target.com and I would like to know how I can buy this Nintendo Switch.

Q: Can you use the new Nintendo Switch in a car on road trips with kids and connect the Switch to dual iPads?

submitted by Just Chillin - 6 years ago
  • A: Hi, Just Chillin! Regarding your question about the Nintendo® Switch™ with Neon Blue and Neon Red Joy-Con™: You can use the Switch in a car, yes, but the Switch will not connect to an iPad, no. If you have any additional questions, please do not hesitate to contact MyTGTtech at 877-698-4883, every day, between 7am-11pm CST.

submitted byIvan - 6 years ago
    Target expert support
  • A: The Switch is known to be portable, so yes to the road trips. However, Nintendo and Apple do not have any technology that is compatible with one another (and use different type/size ports), so the Switch cannot be connected to an apple device such as an iPad. However, you can play up to two players on a single switch, using the joysticks. If you want your kids to play on their own screens, it would require you to buy two switch consoles.

    submitted byAR14 - 6 years ago
  • A: No there is an app where you can connect it to the console so they both can have there own screens

submitted byKit - 6 years ago

Q: 1. Are you able to go online with the switch? Like going on YouTube and sorts? 2.can it connect to Bluetooth like my Bluetooth headphones?

submitted by Yoyo dabatron9000 bro dab - 6 years ago
  • A: Hi, Yoyo dabatron9000 bro dab! Regarding your question about the Nintendo® Switch™ with Neon Blue and Neon Red Joy-Con™: You are able to go online with the Switch! There are currently no official apps for YouTube though. You can pair your Bluetooth wireless headphones with the Switch! I am a big Nintendo fan! The first Nintendo console I ever got was the DSI XL followed by the Wii. I got my switch in 2020 and I absolutely love it! I love how portable it is and how much fun it is to play. I highly recommend this version switch for an entry system while we wait for the switch 2!

An Absolute Game Changer

5 out of 5 stars
Pamela M - 2 years ago
I was given the Nintendo Switch as a gift 3 years ago. Having grown up with every Nintendo console since the classic NES, it was the last console to be added to the collection. At first I thought, as an adult with responsibilities, I might be too busy to sit down and play video games like the good old days. However, the Nintendo Switch has been an absolute game changer in the video game world. The console switches easily between handheld mode or docked mode, making it a breeze to go portable or be docked back to the TV. If you’re a Nintendo fan like I am, you might feel unsure about the controls, especially since this is the debut of the Joy-Con, but the controls still feel natural and intuitive when using the Joy-Cons in their various play modes. I’ve also noticed that the user interface in both the system menus and in the games, are simple enough to accommodate players of all ages, which means no one gets left out during family game night. One negative is the paid membership required to access online capabilities for many games. Even if you’re connected to the Wi-Fi that you probably already pay for, a yearly subscription for family members to be able to play together online from afar is $34.99. Nevertheless, I would still recommend this game console to both kids and the casual adult gamers with responsibilities, like myself. The graphics, portability, and usability will keep you fully immersed in the game and experience.

First gaming device I've personally bought. Played on a few over the years though. So worth it. I'm a big Zelda fan and this thing knocks it out of the water. The price is great too, way lower than competitors.

so happy I could finally have a switch but it feels odd to me. The controllers will randomly disconnect and I'll have to pause in game and reconnect them. Also the left joy con is a bit loose if that makes sense. Either way though it's been great so far.

I bought this for my son’s 6th birthday after being on his tablet for a year and having a new interest in Mario Bros. I was nervous because I thought he would get frustrated with it. Nope! He took to it right away and loves it! We ended up getting a case and screen protector for it as well. I was hoping to get the red/blue controllers but it was sold out everywhere. My kid does not care! :)
