About the Book

The old and new clash in Nashville-a crooked developer, a fight over a song's origin, a murdered local... Jordan Mayfair comes to "Music City" with her travel-writer uncle and learns her daughter is in danger.

Book Synopsis

The old and new collide in Nashville. A crooked developer, Tommy Kahn, plans to demolish a historic building, the Eagles Nest, and build yet another sleek, new tower. At The Bluebird Cafe, where so many music careers have been launched, a washed-up drunk named Notorious interrupts Willow Goodheart's performance, accusing her of stealing his song. Truth-teller Caleb Hunter, determined to shine a light on the corruption in New Nashville, is murdered, his body dragged from the river.

Jordan Mayfair finds herself immersed in it all when she comes to "Music City" with Alex, her travel-writer uncle, and learns that her daughter Holly, who works for Tommy Kahn, might be in danger...

Review Quotes

"Another riveting mystery from Phyllis Gobbell, this time set in 21st-century Nashville. As the city struggles with explosive growth and the fading away of 'Old Nashville, ' amateur sleuth Jordan Mayfair encounters a crazed killer in a deadly game played out on Music Row. Flawless writing and unforgettable characters."

-Martha Smith Tate, author of The Last Ride: Murder, Money, and the Sensational Trial that Captivated Nashville

"Notorious in Nashville is a beautifully written tale and a thrilling mystery. It brings to life the world of 'Music City' and the surrounding societal conflicts between the old and new Nashville. An excellent story told in the skilled hands of Phyllis Gobbell."

-Jack Wallace, author of No Good Deed and The Unrighteous Brothers

"Fans of Phyllis Gobbell's popular Jordan Mayfair mystery series will thoroughly enjoy this peek behind the glitz and glamour of Music City, USA, where old friendships and betrayals are exposed, and the music plays on. A highly entertaining read from a Nashville insider."

-Alana White, author of the Guid'Antonio Vespucci Mysteries

"Notorious in Nashville is a complex and compassionate novel, in which Gobbell captures not only the atmosphere of Nashville, but its heart."

-Jaden Terrell, Shamus award finalist, author of the Nashville-based Jared McKean Mysteries

"Notorious in Nashville is an engrossing read. There's country music, of course, but Phyllis Gobbell touches on the issues that actual Nashvillians care about: unrestrained growth and regular folks no longer able to afford homes in the city. Jordan's visit to the Music City gets her involved in both aspects of Nashville. And there's a murder to be solved."

-Faye Jones, Dean, Learning Resources, Nashville State Community College
