Review Quotes

Praise for the Science Comics series:

This series--written by a handful of authors--seems determined to offer a useful introduction to anything a curious grade-school student might wonder about. The insight behind these books is a powerful one. So much information about the world around us is actually better conveyed visually, through charts, illustrations, and sequential panels, than purely using words. --New York Times

Like having a Time Life Science Library in comic books. Which is awesome! --Popular Science

Praise for Science Comics: Solar System:

Through a bubbly plot and charming graphic-novel illustrations, author Mosco and illustrator Chad (with colorist Healy) create a world in which learning really is fun and even the faraway Pluto comes within reach...An anything-but-boring introduction to the beautiful mysteries of the universe.--Kirkus

A story line infused with humor and drama adds particular animation to this entry in the "Science Comics" series; budding astro-tourists in middle elementary grades will happily sign up for repeat journeys.-School Library Journal, starred review.

About the Author

Rosemary Mosco is a science writer and artist, and she's passionate about sharing her love for the natural world. She writes and draws the science webcomic Bird and Moon and made the urban nature webcomic Your Wild City in collaboration with fellow First Second author Maris Wicks. If she could explore any place in the solar system, she would travel to Jupiter's moon Europa. Science Comics: Solar System is her first graphic novel with First Second.

Jon Chad was born and raised in Vermont. After completing the BFA Sequential Art program at Savannah College of Art and Design, he moved back to White River Junction, Vermont, where he now works at the Center for Cartoon Studies teaching screen-printing and bookmaking. He is the author of Leo Geo and His Miraculous Journey Through the Center of the Earth, Leo Geo and the Cosmic Crisis, and Science Comics: Volcanoes with First Second. He also drew the art package for The Jetsons pinball machine from The Pinball Company and Spooky Pinball.
