I have used SheaMoisture hair products probably over a decade. This was my favorite shampoo. I had been rotating using the Castor Oil one from their line and I recently came back to this. I have very long, wavy hair wash my hair 2 times a week. My hair was greasy and smelled off after like 1 day. I was confused and kept having to wash my hair more often. Unfortunately, ended up giving up on this shampoo and am in the search of something else.

My hair was so tangled and I lost so much hair trying to detangle it was ridiculous… I’ll need to do multiple protein treatments to reverse the damage… This product is horrible and based off the you tube videos many black women have experienced the same issues … with all of shea moisture products… Run … it’s no longer the same formulas

Worked perfectly for my fine, dry damaged hair! My hair now feels soft, smooth and nourished. I only used small amounts of this product at a time to ensure I didn't use excess product along with rinsing my hair throughly. Used this shampoo ONCE and it completely coated my hair making it feel waxy and gross, it took 3 separate washes and Dawn dish soap to finally get all the product out of my hair. In the meantime my hair was falling out in clumps!! Absolutely do not buy! So disappointed because I normally love Shea moisture products but I will not ever be buying again.

i brought this product faithfully for 6 years until recently. i agree with many customers;the formula has definitely change. i used to use this product on my 4 y/o daughter at the time! she's now 10. this was her staple product with the conditioner! now, as of later this product change include the conditioner. The consistency of the product is not as thick as before, it has a weird smell, and now it has a tendency to dry out your hair! before it use to be very moisturizing. well back to the drawing board!

I have naturally thick, curly/wavy hair that requires alot of hydration. This shampoo has been gentle on my hair along with helping it to feel hydrated. I’m also able to detangle my hair after rinsing out. Normally i would need half a bottle of conditioner just for detangling. I’m planning to purchase a few more bottles to have on hand.

I was in love with this shampoo and conditioner combo, but as of recent they have changed formulas to create aire viscous lather. Not only is this impossible to wash out, but it dries out the ends of curls very easily. The conditioner is somewhat the same, just feels more oily. I hate to see the old formula go.

This shampoo is cleansing with a pleasant aroma that lingers in hair. I avoid washing unless I am using hot tools. I shampoo my 2c coarse mane about once every 2 weeks, using a homemade conditioning bar in the mean time for refreshers. The SheaMoisture Moisture Retention Shampoo actually does a good job at clarifying my hair from the conditioning bar build-up that is hard to rid. I don't notice any benefits as far as moisture retention, which is unfortunate because my hair is slightly damaged and dry.

I was very disappointed, first wash and I had to use almost the whole bottle . I have curly not to thick hair and my hair felt like it needed to be washed after using the shampoo and conditioner I was left with thick oil layer on my hair don’t buy !

I didn’t realize they changed the formula because they didn’t state that anywhere on the bottle. I guess we are supposed to know because they slightly changed the name but kept the look exactly the same. MY HAIR FELL OUT IN CLUMPS after using this new formula. I literally have bald spots especially at the front of my head. My scalp was extremely irritated dry and red after using this. I WILL NEVER buy shea moisture again. If you’re going to be sell outs ATLEAST label the bottle that you have a new horrible formula.

I usually don’t use shampoo as often as I use conditioner buuuutttt I love this shampoo. It moisturizes my hair and doesn’t feel brittle and stripped afterwards. It also helps with detangling being I am natural this is a must!! I love this and it stays in rotation!!
