Q: Can you use the noise cancelling feature without connecting to a device? For example on an airplane when you just want to block ambient noise but not listen to music?

  • A: Hi SweetShopper, Good question! Unfortunately, no. The headphones will automatically turn off after 5 mins if there is no device connected to it. But, as a workaround, you can connect the headphones to your device via wired headphone cable or via Bluetooth so you can use the noise canceling feature without playing audio. And as long as the headphones is connected to your device it will not power off. Note: If you connect the supplied headphone cable while using the noise canceling function with a Bluetooth connection, the Bluetooth function is turned off, but you can continue to use the noise canceling function. Noise cancelling and sound quality was good. However, the design is awful. The plastic parts of BOTH ear pieces broke within a year of having these, so now they are completely unusable. Really disappointed and expected them to last longer given the price. The microphone is awful too - completely useless for phone calls which was really inconvenient.

Great for 6 months until it fell apart at the seams.

I bought these headphones in December at Target. They have been great, and I used them daily. In the normal course of daily use, as I always did, I lifted the headphones to put on my head. Nothing different or rough or bigger head than usual or anything. But this time, as I put them on, the left earpiece just broke at the joint connecting it to headband. It didn't disconnect, but it just dangles there and could not be securely reattached. And now the sound doesn't work through that side either. As this is normal use, and the manufacturing quality should have them at least last the whole warranty year being used normally, they should have been replaced. However Sony said their warranty does not cover "physical damage." I would have thought that Sony, a huge company with a lot of money, would stand by the quality of their products if they break with normal use during the warranty period. Very disappointed.

I bought these as a long overdue replacement for my GoJi Over Ear Headphones. The audio performance and battery life are good BUT the headband has fragile clips at the end of the padded section. One side cracked, the other broken and fallen off. I pride myself as someone who looks after their kit. So disappointing that these broke so easily and quickly.

So excited to buy these headphones as a Christmas gift for my daughter. White noise cancelling headphones were at the top of her list! I got a great deal on them off the Target app ! The headphones worked well except for the noise cancelling which was the main reason I chose them. Whenever I called her all I could here was everything in the background AMPLIFIED!!!! So if noise cancelling is important to you these may not be your first choice!

bought this on april 23,2022; a small piece broke off but it still worked fine. today i noticed that the left ear piece was completely messed up, and even though i can still listen to music, it sit on my head correctly

I bought these to replace some Sennheiser headphone which I had bought when these were out of stock! I wish I had just waited as these Sony ones are so much nicer and way more comfortable to wear. They are so light on your ears and head and the sound quality is great!

I just bought a brand new pair of Sony WH-CH710N model black. The quality is not at all what I expected after hearing nothing but good things about the brand. Probably should’ve started with the newest model to get the best experience.
