@thebibliophileandtheboxer Can you believe Thanksgiving is next week, Christmas is a month after that, and in six weeks it’ll be the end of a decade? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I’m starting to see holiday commercials on TV and even some Chrismtas lights up in my neighborhood, but somehow the holiday spirit has not caught up with me yet this year. Normally by this time, half my Christmas gifts are bought and I’m recording Hallmark movies. The only thing holiday-ish in my life this year is my new PJ shorts! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ My reading has been completely derailed the past several weeks and I’m just now getting to We Have Always Lived in the Castle, which I had planned to read in October. It’s a little slow to start but I do love the quirky main character, Merricat! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #allthebooksnov19 — open book #bookqueensnov19 — dust jacket or naked cover (I prefer paperbacks, hence no dust jacket) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #bookstagram #bibliophile #bookworm #booknerd #booklover #igreads #igbooks #booksofinstagram #readersofig #alwaysreading #fortheloveofbooks #readingaddict #bookaholic #instabooks #bookphotography #idratherbereading #readeveryday #currentlyreading #whatimreading #fiction #wehavealwayslivedinthecastle #shirleyjackson #averybookishpost #naturetattoo #mountaintattoo #targetstyle

Review Quotes

"A marvelous elucidation of life...a story full of craft and full of mystery" --The New York Times Book Review

"A witch's brew of eerie power and startling novelty" --The New York Times

"I was thrilled by the genuine but meaningful strangeness of Shirley Jackson's We Have Always Lived in the Castle." --George Saunders

"Jackson's novel is so wonderfully creepy that students usually feel subversive just for reading it. Add to that one of the most brilliantly realized unreliable narrators in fiction and the book becomes irresistible." --Marlon James
