Review Quotes

New York Times Bestseller

"Sincero (Don't Sleep With Your Drummer) brings a fun, feminine verve to now well-tread self-help tropes... The tone is far more feisty than academic, and there's humor on every page, all of which is exactly what her intended audience most needs
--Publishers Weekly online

"If touchy-feely self-help tomes make you feel, shall we say, less than inspired, this no-nonsense manifesto to awesomeness might be just what you're looking for. Filled with blunt and sassy advice, do-it-yourself exercises in personal transformation, and a whole lot of hilarity, You Are a Badass will silence your inner critic, and help you build a life worthy of the kind of Facebook news feed that others envy. Take a day off from looking for your inner goddess, and spending some time cultivating your outer badass instead."
--Bustle.com

"I adore Jen's realistic and funny take on all matters of living an awesome life. She has such a gift for writing in a very digestible way that will appeal to everyone. If you're looking for purple unicorns and rainbows you won't find them here, what you will find are practical and easy ways to connect with your inner badass and change your life."

Absolutely love this book! I first purchased it when I was going through a breakup and fell in love with it. I still use a lot of the wisdom from it even years after my break up 😊

Maybe when this book was released 10 years ago it was a new way of thinking. There are bits and pieces that are decent but overall the message is flat and without providing evidence for the claims.

I bought this after reading Good Vibes Good Life, and I can’t get through this one. I had to skip to a random chapter to try to engage and it’s now been 6 months of trying to enjoy. The writing is not in a learning template and seems more like the author cares about being funny/witty instead of helpful. Would NOT recommend.

This book seriously acted like a massive reset button on my life. Yes I understand there’s typos and it’s not for everyone, but this book is 100% worth the risk of “losing your time.” If you could take away anything from this book, it is to be more open with experiences that come your way, and by shoving this book off for having typos, being somewhat spiritual, etc., you’re doing everything but that.

Such a terrible book. Lazy writing and practically no research. It's basically just a book about a girl with great luck after making unwise decisions and thinks you should do the same thing, but it will all work out as long as you think positive thoughts.

I liked this book overall. It was helpful and inspiring. But I'm wondering if it was edited before publishing? There are SO many typos!

This is lazy writing (a lot of swearing), superficial analysis, magical thinking with strong religious influence. If you liked “the secret” you might like this.

It might be great to some people if you believe in “source energy” and the universe causing all things. It had some quotes like, love money, which there are many valid reasons not to put money above all things. If you are religious, you probably won’t like this book

This book is not much different from ‘The Secret’. I found a few good points in there but if you’ve read or seen ‘The Secret’, this is not worth reading.

honestly it’s a book that started off kind of boring. the point she is trying to make gets a little lost with so many words that i think is unnecessary. the title seemed interesting, but it’s ohkayy.

Her “practical” examples were a stretch. The best she could come up with was a parking space? She’s not funny and I found her take on depression to be insensitive and reckless.
