Description
The original Moka coffee pot: Moka Express is the original stovetop espresso maker, it provides the experience of the real Italian way of preparing a tasteful coffee, its unique shape and the inimitable gentleman with mustache date back to 1933, when Alfonso Bialetti invented it.
Made in Italy with an ergonomic handle and a patented safety valve which makes it easy to clean. Available in many sizes and suitable for gas, electric and induction (with the Bialetti induction adapter plate)
How to prepare the coffee: fill the boiler up to the safety valve, fill it up with ground coffee without pressing, close the Moka pot and place it on the stovetop, as soon as Moka Express starts to gurgle, turn the fire off and coffee will be ready One size for each need: Moka Express sizes are measured in Espresso Cups, coffee can be enjoyed in Espresso Cups or in larger containers
Cleaning instructions: The Bialetti Moka Express must only be rinsed with clean water after use, with no detergents, the product is not to be washed with a dishwasher as it will be irremediably damaged and the taste of coffee altered

Q: 1st attempt out of the box and the handle started on fire. The base had water, the flame wasn't high enough to meet the edges. I'm saddened that this little pot died so tragically! I'll try again with another. Anyone else experience this?
submitted by PeachyHans - 4 years ago
A: Hi PeachyHans, I am sorry to hear about your first experience with the Moka. The handle is plastic and should not be exposed to high heat source. Please make sure you place the whole base on the stove, over a medium flame (heat source) and make sure the handle is pointed away for the flame, or to the side of the burner. please contact our customer service department with your experience. 800-421-6290

A: I think the key is to place the base of the moka pot off the center of the burner rather than in the center of the burner. And also, place turn the handle to the outermost aspect of the burner top so it doesn't melt or get too hot.
submitted byPartyof5 - 2 years ago
A: Wrap a good deal of aluminium foil on the handle to reflect the heat.
submitted byRahul_Does - 2 years ago
A: As Bradshaw mentioned, try to keep the handle away from the heat source as it is plastic!

Q: Can you use it on an electric stovetop, or does it have to be a flame-gas top?
submitted by mlw50 - 7 years ago
A: Yes, you can use it on an electric stove top.
submitted bythisisthis - 7 years ago
A: I use ithe on my electric stovetop all the time - love it!
submitted byPam D - 7 years ago
A: I use mine on a gas stove - but I see no reason why it wouldn't work on an electric stove...my assumption is as long as water is brought to a boil - it will work.
submitted byDeb - 7 years ago
A: Yes you can use it on an electric stovetop! :)

Q: Is It dishwasher safe?
submitted by - 3 years ago
A: Hi there, no the Moka Express is not dishwasher safe. This should be washed by hand and hand dried to avoid oxidation. Hope this helps!
submitted byBradshaw Home - 3 years ago
Brand expert
A: Wash/rinse it by hand with hot or warm water. I recalled in another web site
NOT to use dish detergent. Confirm my comment with the included instructions.

Q: Will this work on an induction stovetop
submitted by To be married - 5 years ago
A: The Bialetti website says it is NOT induction safe. :(
submitted byjaneyq - 5 years ago
A: I use it on an induction stovetop. It works well. Need to be careful not to drag the pot across the burner, though, so you don't scratch the glass.

Q: Assuming I can make iced lattes easily with this unit?
submitted by Terri R - 6 years ago
A: It is very easy, it only takes about 4 minutes.
submitted byCoffee lover - 6 years ago
A: It basically just makes hot espresso and then you can decide what to do with it after; if you want to throw it over ice and milk and make a latte.

Q: is this made in china ? does it work on induction
submitted by carshone - 1 year ago
A: Hi, Carshone - the Bialetti Moka 6 cup Express Espresso Maker is made in Italy. There is an induction plate available on Target.com that does allow for induction use. Thank you!

Q: The instructions say, on the first use to make 3 cups of coffee and dump it out/don't drink it.. Seems like a waste of coffee. Does this really need to be done?
submitted by dereerised - 3 years ago
A: Yes, part or the moka is the “seasoning” of flavor, these 3 batches help start this. Also, as these items are shipped and moved before getting to you these 3 cup will help clean the insides. Please follow these steps. Hope this helps!

Q: Does it work to only make 1 or 2 espresso cups or do you have to fill it with water as shown in the video to get it to work properly?
submitted by NYRookie - 3 years ago
A: Thank you for your question. For the Bialetti Moka to work properly you will need to fill the water up to the valve as shown in the video. This will yield you 1 large mug of espresso or 6 espresso sized cups. If you have additional questions please reach out to a member of our team and they would be happy to help you. We can be reached Monday-Friday 9AM-5PM PST at 1-800-421-6290. Hope this helped!
I love our Bialetti Espresso Maker! It makes delicious espresso. It is easy to use and zero waste. I just watched a few videos online regarding how to use it. It’s pretty basic and straightforward. For anyone complaining about the handle melting or getting hot, you are 1) using too big of a burner and 2) using too high of heat. I use the smallest burner on my gas stove, and I keep the flame at medium-low. It takes 10-15 minutes to finish brewing. I plan on buying a larger pot in the future, the 9 or even 12 cup maker. Delicious!

I opened this product and knew exactly what to do. Simple instructions and fast/efficient for one person use. The outside of the product gets extremely hot after heating so be careful when touching. You will have to wait until it cools down to make additional coffee. Otherwise, 10/10!

Bought this as a gift for my mom from Target, when we opened it up it was already heavily used like as if someone had bought a new one and returned an older (heavily used) version of the pot. There was a thick film all over it and it reeked of vinegar like someone had tried to clean (poorly). How on earth do you miss this if you are Target?

Fun coffee method! We had to learn this classic method, but once we did, it's a fun way to make an almost-espresso drink! Froth some milk and you have a fancy, strong coffee drink at home! Best with fine ground coffee, but not quite as fine as espresso. Just a tad coarser than espresso. The pot works just as expected. We have hard water and use Filtered water to make the coffee. But my water has left some spots from cleaning. Nothing that affects the coffee!

Big Disappointment - 10 months ago, Verified purchaser
I own a well used 2 cup Bialetti stovetop moka pot and when I purchased it sveral years ago, I thought it was made in Italy because that is what is stated on the front of the pot. Turns out, it was made in China! I Bought this 6 cup size because it is apparently the smallest you can purchase if you want a Bialetti moka pot made in Italy. As you will see in the photo, the seal has markings around it. I could have overlooked this because of course the pot was going to be washed before use, but the seal is not tight. If you look closely you can see the gaps. The top of the pot does not screw on well either. I don't know what type of coating is used for the bottom of the pot, but it is certainly shiny... The last pot I purchased and returned (different brand) had what appeared to be the same type of coating and that coating yielded an undrinkable beverage that tasted like there was chemical solevant leaching. To be fair I have not used this pot. It's a shame, but it really seems like this is no longer a well made brand of moka pots. Perhaps this one slipped through the quality test. I will be returning it for a refund without putting it to use.

This is literally the best purchase I’ve ever made! Been spending a disgusting amount of money on stupidly expensive iced lattes and decided I should just try to make my own. Bought this with low expectations/confidence (in myself, not the product) and omg… so easy and SO DELICIOUS! Be sure to run it through a clear cycle just water the first few times. VERY user friendly; only three pieces total. Whole process to brew takes maybe 5-7 minutes which I honestly found super impressive! It tastes the same if not better than the chain espresso drinks! Buy it !!!

Delicious Espresso
5 out of 5 stars
Would recommend
Tiffany - 1 year ago, Verified purchaser
It really is the most affordable way to make good tasting espresso. Simple to use and easy to clean. The big drawback is that you have to make the full 6 "cup" serving everytime. A typical americano cup of coffee needs two shots or "cups" with either steam milk or hot water, so this makes 3 servings, no less no more. You have to buy the size maker for the amount of espresso you wish to make. It is easy simple process that is foolproof if you're by your stove paying attention as it fills completely up when it reaches the correct pressure. "Cups" are in quoations because they are espresso cups of 1.5 ounces. This 6 cup espresso maker makes about 9 ounces with about 5 typical scoops of coffee espresso ground and pressed into the basket. I will buy a bigger one for parties.
