About the Book
"Cotton presents rooms that mix historical and modern influences, resulting in luxuriously sleek interiors for casual, yet sophisticated, living. The glamorous spaces many designed for art-world clients, including Cindy Sherman and Lisa Yuskavage are anchored in tradition but reflect the relaxed sensibilities of our time. Cotton shares his multi-scaled approach to design successful turns with his varied collections, which are often included in his interior projects. Furniture, lighting, wallpaper, tableware, and terra-cotta planters are part of his repertoire. Cotton's industrial designs like his interiors embody an intelligence and understanding of design history. This book, the designer's first, documents the groundbreaking work of a rising and notable talent and should be in the libraries of designers and connoisseurs of fine living"--Publisher's description.Book Synopsis

"Interior designer Cotton presents rooms that mix historical and modern influences, resulting in luxuriously sleek interiors for casual yet sophisticated living. Many of the glamorous spaces were designed for art-world clients and are anchored in tradition but reflect the relaxed sensibilities of our time." --SOCIETY TEXAS "Working with art-world superstars such as Cindy Sherman and Lisa Yuskavage on their own homes, Billy Cotton is no stranger to incorporating powerful works into his interiors. In his first monograph, Billy Cotton: Interior & Design Work (Rizzoli), every page proves his gift for complex palettes and talent for making things livable." --GALERIE MAGAZINE "To any keen observer, flipping through the pages of Billy Cotton's first monograph is like visiting an alternate reality in the design multiverse. While everything appears completely familiar--comfortable American sitting rooms, trendy kitchens, sultry boudoirs--something feels different. Subversive, even. Colors that should clash, don't. Material combinations that might sound harsh on paper achieve wonders, and periods mix together in ways others wouldn't dare." --L'OFFICIEL USA "In his first book, Billy Cotton: Interior and Design Work, NYC designer Billy Cotton takes us on a tour of notable homes he's created for a rarified art world clientele, including Lisa Yuskavage and Matvay Levenstein; artist Margaret Lee and gallerist Oliver Newton; and artist and photographer Cindy Sherman. Working with veteran design writer Mayer Rus and photographer Steven Kent Johnson, Cotton features 15 projects that display his distinctive touch, mixing historical and modern influences." --REMODELISTA "...a lush tome documenting the groundbreaking work of a rising and notable talent." --THE MARYN "New York-based interior and industrial designer Billy Cotton adds "author" to his resume with the release of his first monograph. Each of the timeless rooms illustrates Cotton's impeccable ability to balance historical details with modern influences. Plus, the rising star shares his multi-layered approach to decorating, guiding readers to create their relaxed yet sophisticated interiors." --VERANDA
