This sunscreen is broad spectrum with an SPF of 30. It is lightweight and eliminates all white residue.
It has been specifically crafted for women of color and is infused with natural ingredient such as avocado, jojoba, cacao, carrot juice and sun flower oil. These soothe, moisturize, protect, hydrate and heal skin.
Our story begins with the need for a sunscreen brand that caters exclusively to women of color. From carrying expensive umbrellas to the beach to avoiding the sunshine all together, women of color have come up with their own methods of protecting their skin. For years, sunscreen has been tailored to light skin individuals, leaving behind a visible white-residue on our darker skin sisters. Blotchy makeup and white residue were enough to keep people from truly enjoying a beautiful sunny day. Our founder thought it was about time to change that. In 2016, Shontay Lundy created Black Girl Sunscreen, a 30 SPF lotion infused with natural ingredients and formulated for women of color. Apply liberally 15 minutes before sun exposure. Reapply: After 80 minutes of swimming or sweating. Immediately after towel drying. At least every 2 hours. Sun protection measures. Spending time in the sun increases your risk of skin cancer and early skin aging. To decrease this risk, regularly use a sunscreen with a Broad Spectrum SPF of 15 or higher and other sun protection measures including: limit time in the sun, especially from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Wear long-sleeved shirts, pants, hats, and sunglasses.
A: You're right, it isn't racial division -- it's introducing a product to fill a need that hasn't been filled before: sunscreen that doesn't make dark skin look chalky. Which means that people with darker-hued skin can protect themselves without having to sacrifice appearance, which wasn't a problem for lighter-hued people. Now we can all put our skin health first! I’d give this 4.5 stars. It’s a great SPF, assuming it’s actually working. It’s a bit hard to blend in and kind of leans more dry when applying but once you get it blended into the skin, it’s great. I tend to use an oil beforehand so maybe that helps it sink in faster. I do have to apply a little at a time but overall it’s good

Great for my dry skin! Super dewy finish, I think too dewy if you have oily skin. My skin is almost always dry and flakey so it feels very moisturizing as a last step. If you're skin is quite dry and you don't mind looking oily, I would do all your skincare, put a light layer of Vaseline or cerave healing ointment in *very* dry flakey spots, then put this on top as a last step. You're skin will feel hydrated for sure! And oily, but as a severely dry-skin person, I am a fan of this method lol

after months of hearing about this sunscreen on IG I decided to stop at ulta and grab it. the minute I squeezed it onto my fingers I knew I would like it. I have used a lot of different sunscreens and I could tell this was not going to be oily on my face. It felt more like a moisturizing cream than sunscreen . usually sunscreen goes on oily and take forever to blend in. This blends in so easily and is not oily! it's so moisturizing it doesn't even feel like a sunscreen. there is no oily or white residue left on my face. I am a light brown skin girl for reference. Also, it does not cause breakouts( been using 2 1/2 weeks now) or interfere with my acne treatments. it blends so well with my other facial products. I'm glad I gave in and bought this sunscreen. It is definitely top three for me!

I really wanted to love this sunscreen especially since I heard great things about it, but unfortunately it broke me out REALLY BAD. It caused cystic acne on my forehead and jawline that I’ve never had before. It took me a minute to figure out what was causing all of sudden break outs.
