Q: does this leave alot of white on the skin and is it difficult to apply?

submitted by Tyler boy - 2 years ago
  • A: We make every effort to provide translucent or invisible zinc oxide products, but achieving the SPF (sun protection factor) and broad spectrum protection means that some whitening may occur. This will depend on the amount you apply, how the product is spread on the skin, and your natural skin color. To minimize this, apply the sunscreen in advance of sun exposure and rub it in longer than you typically would. Remember to always follow the label directions when applying sunscreens.

  • A: Hello Tyler boy, most minerals sunscreens tend to leave some white cast. -We hope this helps!

Q: Could this be used on face ?

submitted by Dia - 5 years ago
  • A: This has the same exact ingredients as the one they make for the face. So I think yes.

submitted byC - 4 years ago
  • A: I’m sure it could but they have one specifically for the face that might be better for sensitive skin

submitted byAnne - 5 years ago

Q: I love this sunscreen. Curious if it is non nano or if you know the size of the particles?

submitted by Leslie - 3 years ago
  • A: Our Coppertone products are broad-spectrum sunscreens that provide protection from both UVA and UVB and contain a variety of active ingredients, which are always listed in the Drug Facts on the back of the product packaging. We are unable to disclose ingredient information, other than as required by law, regarding our product formulations. We adhere to this policy to ensure that trade secrets and other proprietary business information remain confidential.

Q: Will this irritate the face, I see that it has the same ingredients as the face one? Thanks

submitted by RuZ - 4 years ago
  • A: Coppertone Pure & Simple SPF 50 and Coppertone Pure & Simple Face SPF 50 are both 100% mineral based sunscreen lotions containing zinc oxide. Both products can be used for the face. We do recommend avoiding using these around the eye area.

Q: Can this sunscreen also double as a moisturizer?

submitted by murmur - 4 years ago
  • A: Coppertone Pure & Simple’s primary benefit is sun protection, offering broad spectrum, water resistant 80 minutes protection. In addition, the formula does have moisturization benefits. You may opt to use it as a daily moisturizer, but please keep in mind it may feel a bit different on your skin due to its water resistant properties that most facial moisturizers do not have.

I don’t feel like this blocks UV well. I used this at a day at the beach and was under an umbrella and I was soooo sunburnt. I looked like a lobster. This leaves you feeling sticky too. The white cast dissolves fast though. I got this in my eye too and it was one of the worst pains I’ve ever felt. I like that this product is mineral based but it just wasn’t good. I’ll continue to use it until it runs out but I will definitely not but again.

This sunscreen is only for people with a ghostly complexion. I have a light olive complexion and it made me look like a mime. Plus, it's impossible to remove. It's not just waterproof, it's also impervious to soap. I tried to clean out the bottle so I could recycle the container, but no amount of Blue Dawn could remove the greasy film from the surface of the plastic. So, it had to go in the trash. The product will stay on your skin for about as long as this (essentially) non-recyclable container will sit in a landfill.

This sunscreen works well but man is it sticky and nearly impossible to wash off. I didn’t have any issues with the smell like others have said but I have taken 3 showers in 12 hours because I can’t stand the sticky/tacky feeling of my skin since using this.

Gets everywhere and it’s so hard to remove. It accidentally got on my carpet and I can’t remove the stain. Doesn’t seem natural for something to stain like that.

It’s stuff smells horrible! I don’t know if it just reacts badly to me but I can’t stand it. Smells like old bread or feet. And it’s extremely hard to wash of, I have to scrub my arms! Not buying again, there’s better mineral sunscreen out there!

This works. I used my preferred brand on my arms, chest and this on my legs. My legs weren't touched by the sun, while I got a little red elsewhere. However, washing it off is work. I scrubbed twice, tried shaving my legs and still felt it on my skin. My razor had a film on it afterwards and had to be tossed. So it does work, but is very difficult to wash off. Not sure I'd purchase again.

Wanted so badly for this sunscreen to work, but it absolutely did not protect against the sun at all. Was only in the sun for maybe 20 minutes and am now as red as a lobster with hot, sore skin. Didn't seem to irritate my skin any by itself (very sensitive skin) and didn't leave a white cast (though with my level of pale skin, I don't know if I could've noticed), but it took a while to fully rub in the smallest amount and was very hard to wash off completely, and again, did not protect against sunburn at all. Disappointing, as I have an acrylate allergy and this was one of the only options for sunscreen without acrylates :/

This sunscreen has been a nightmare to wash off my body at the end of the day. I’ve used a combination of a loofah/body wash, then an oil based cleansing balm, and then an exfoliating scrub in one shower and my skin still feels and looks like it has sunscreen on it afterwards. It takes a few days to fully feel removed.

This sunscreen gave me a horrible rash! I am a redhead and have very sensitive skin. I have used a million kinds of sunscreen “natural” and not, and I have never had a reaction like this. Subsided in 5 days after discontinuing use

This is the only sunscreen that works well for my very sensitive skin. If you’re like me, reapply just like any other sunscreen if out on the beach, and you will be protected. The product is not sticky, easy to apply, and leaves no residue. Please come out with a spray version too!!

Really wanted to like this sunscreen but it leaves a white cast and a filmy residue after 2 showers with vigorous scrubbing. I also used it for swimming at the pool and the sunscreen would show up white again after being rubbed in. It would also settle in creases around my body as well as around my belly button.

Mediocre

lygophilia - 2 years ago, Verified purchaser
This is functional; leaves a white caste that somewhat goes away (and I'm fair). It's somewhat thin/liquidy, so you might find it messy. If you want the same thing with a thicker formula, try the Coppertone Sport Mineral, which is the same formula, except the Sport one lacks a few natrual extracts that the Pure & Simple one has. Which is ironic, because you would think the Pure & Simple line has a simpler formula, meaning fewer ingredients. It also leaves you greasy, which can be touched up with powder after it's absorbed. But that creates a mess for the next application. Rember 1/4 tsp for face only 1/2 tsp for face/neck, otherwise you're not getting the SPF on the label and not blocking nearly as much UV rays as. you think you are. Mineral sunscreens are effective immediately, which is a plus.

I wanted to like it but the white cast is terrible/super hard to rub in, and I am used to mineral sunscreens. Even after rubbing in and thinking it’s fine, I keep seeing white marks on me or my furniture. I had to return it.

This sunscreen is free of oxybenzone, octinoxate, parabens, dyes, & fragrance! The only drawbacks of this sunscreen are that it takes about a minute longer to fully rub into the skin, the white cast is more difficult to avoid when applied over areas with body hair, & you must hold the bottle cap-side up to avoid losing product.
