Description

Differin Gel Acne Treatment contains adapalene, an Rx-strength acne-fighting retinoid that helps clear breakouts where they start (works deep into pores in 5 minutes), helps prevents new acne from forming, and as a result, can restore skin’s overall tone and texture. Adapalene is the first over-the-counter active ingredient for acne in more than 30 years. It clears acne with the power of an Rx without the prescription, prevents breakouts, blackheads, whiteheads, blemishes and clogged pores, and can be used to effectively treat acne, or maskne, caused by wearing face masks or facial coverings. When used as directed, you could start to see results in as little as 1 week, and when used every single day, Differin Gel can help reduce up to 87% of acne in just 12 weeks (Cunliffe et al 1998, Galderma Laboratories).

I had a very poor experience with the Differin gel. However, I don't necessarily think it was the product, I think it was my skin. I used this for about three months, and it made my skin worse. I worked my way up to using Differin every other day, because I know my skin needs to work up to it, so it won't get overwhelmed. At first, the Differin seemed to be effective and my skin cleared up. But then I started to get really bad & painful cystic acne that never really improved, despite the continued use of Differin. Once I stopped using Differin, and going back to my normal routine of washing my face and using lotion, my face cleared up. It hasn't had issues (besides some scarring) since. It's a good product for most people, but for me personally, it was too strong for my hypersensitive skin and didn't work for me. So be careful out there y'all. Especially if you have sensitive skin.

10/10 don’t recommend for super sensitive skin

My dermatologist recommended that I use this product for my hyperpigmentation because I have very sensitive skin and other products would be more irritating with my skin. Her instructions were the same that’s on the box which is to use it at night with a gentle cleanser and sunscreen with 30 or 50 in the morning. Within three days using it with my doctor’s instructions, I got a severe chemical burn all over my face. I do not recommend this product for anybody with super sensitive skin.

It’s okay. Dries my skin out a bit too much and I haven’t noticed much improvement with minimizing acne. Overall, a little but goes a long way which is nice, but I don’t think it’s worth the price.

Horrible product for my skin. Incredibly painful - felt like a chemical burn on my face! I only used for 3 days and it made my skin flake terribly, burn like a mother and get blotchy and red. The burning came back every time I put on any kind of moisturizer on my face. Hard NO for my sensitive skin pals out there.

Skin may have a purging period of 2 months, wear sunscreen while using this product

I use this product one time four years ago and it’s been up until now that I just started getting acne again. This acne treatment is like no other, and I resorted back to using it because my acne started acting up after years of it being calm. With this gel, you slowly went to build up your tolerance to it using it twice a week and building up to once every other day until you can finally do it every single day. a lot of people shy away from this product because it can cause your skin to purge, but after that period is over your skin will thank you so much! I feel as this gel is more easier on the skin than other acne treatments and not only does this help your acne completely go away. It brings a very nice and subtle glow to your skin. with this product that you need to make sure that you’re doing is wearing sunscreen and reapplying that sunscreen every two hours. Do not leave the house without sunscreen If you’re using any type of product that is going to chemically exfoliate your skin or dig deeper into your skin. If you don’t wear sunscreen, it will make your skin worse than what it was before, so make sure you have a good sunscreen before you start this acne treatment.

I’ve been using adapalene regularly for the last year. It has significantly improved my hormonal acne. I still get spots, but they fade and heal much faster with this product. It can be very drying when you first start using it, but you have to stick with it! Results take time. I would really recommend this product. A little goes a long way and a tube will last me around 6 months.

I used differin gel for over 6 months and it ruined my skin! I always had very clear skin until I turned 24. I started breaking out on my cheeks. I started using differin gel knowing that my acne would get worse before it gets better. Well, it made my acne worse permanently. It’s like the purging phase never ended. Now I had dark marks and acne scars covering my face that weren’t there before using differin. I stopped using it and I’m now using something completely different, and I already see an improvement, but those acne scars really bother me.

I love this product. I use this after cleansing my face. I apply it to the area of my skin with the most acne and it goes away pretty quickly. It’s helping me improve the texture of my skin. Although the tube is a bit small a little goes a long way so it’s definitely worth the money,

I love Differin as a key part of my routine. I use it daily before bed and cover it with a thick moisturizer as it’s very drying. It helps skin cell regeneration which keeps pores cleaner and skin looking youthful and rejuvenated. I will always use this.

My Dermatologist Recommended It To Replace Prescription

Differin is a non-prescription retinoid alternative (adapalene) to prescription-required tretinoin (brand name, Retin A). My dermatologist specifically recommended it, so I discontinued tretinoin. The prescriptions for tretinoin (generic) and Retin A (brand) cost more. Differin works just as well as tretinoin / Retin A to stimulate cell production. It was worth it to purchase it from Target because I was able to layer discounts.

I had used this gel for a year and it had worked wonders. I moved to another brand once they raised the price but adapalene gel over all works amazingly. It will dry out your skin I went from being oily to having dry skin, then to being combination once my skin got used to the gel. I would suggest a gentle cleanser with no fragrance and a deep moisturizer like vanicream or differin.

Very gentle if used correctly. You cannot apply every night you have to start off slow. I started with applying it in Sunday night then again Wednesday night, after two weeks when I saw my skin adjusting I started using every other night. You also have to use a good moisturizer once you apply it. It will make your skin feel tight and dry. My skin is smooth and baby soft. Love that this is over the counter now. I recommend this product. I can’t speak for cystic acne because I do not have this skin condition.

I am just starting my retinol journey. I chose differin since previously was a prescription gel so my thought was that if dermatologists prescribed it then it must be good/worth it. I am still in the beginning phases of working myself up to everyday so I am not consistant with this. However, I had a cyst on my face that came after a pimple. I had plans to see a plastic surgeon to remove it next week, this is something I have had for many months now. However, last night it popped. I KNOW it had to be from the differin gel as it is for acne as well-I had hopes. I tried many other things and gave up until I tried this. 100% would recommend it. I am still using it for retinol as well, I am just glad it helped in more than one way!
