Trying to live in peace doesn't always happen.

In Fire of Death, the fourth John Henry Chronicles novel, guerilla warfare intensifies during the mid-summer days in Northeastern Wisconsin. When refugees ask U.S. Army Veteran John Henry's help for aid, John has a tough decision. With news of the enemy getting closer to discovering the Henry homestead, John must strategize new ways to fight against the evils trying to annihilate his family.

Despite their allies growing in number, casualties mount on both sides. Using military survival skills, John must strive to keep his family fed, safe, and moral up in these uncertain times. Who remains at the end of the day may mean who can be the most merciless.

Review Quotes

Praise for the John Henry Chronicles Series

"D.M. Herrmann's...John Henry Chronicles takes us to the post-apocalyptic aftermath of an electromagnetic burst that leaves the survivors bewildered, dazed and disorganized. Tribalism reigns. It is every man for himself, where the bonds of family face off against the remnants of government power in a struggle for supremacy."

-Charles DuPuy, Author of the EZ Kelly Mystery series

"Innisfree is an interesting read, and a fairly accurate portrayal of human nature in extreme circumstances. Set in current times, with much of the unrest of the world today, D.M. Herrmann captures a possible future for us."

-Brian Oppermann, U.S. Marine Corps Combat Veteran of Desert Storm/Desert Shield

"A dystopia in our not so distant future. Excellently conceived and written. To See the Summer Sky was both entertaining and frightening, a wild ride."

-Joseph E. Mosca, Author, Scorpion Wind and Retired Sergeant, Florida Highway Patrol

"D.M. Hermann has written a great series. To See the Summer Sky is engaging and enthralling, and it is non-stop action through the entire John Henry Chronicles series. I haven't been able to put any of them down!"

-Elizabeth Visgar, United States Army Veteran

"Innisfree confronts the terrifying reality of a world without conveniences we've so heavily relied upon and just how far you would go to protect your family. This novel will keep you reading until the very end, securing its place among the top necessities you would grab if the world would crumble."

-Callie Trautmiller, Author of Becoming American

"The novel, To See the Summer Sky, continues the intriguing story of the Henry family as they try to survive following catastrophic events; a very well written third installment in the Henry family's adventure. The character development throughout the series and attention to detail by D.M. Herrmann is unmatched by other authors. I eagerly await Fire of Death and would be pleased to see a film adaptation of this series in the future."

-Clint E., Chief Warrant Officer Three, United States Army
