Q: Are the bags themselves recyclable?

A: Actually, Jade, that is not entirely true. And folks should double check with the guidelines of their local recycling program before being misled into thinking they can go into your recycling bin. Many processors are no longer accepting plastic bags AND bagged recyclables as the film plastic causes harm to the machinery trying to sort recyclables. I know in my county, and many counties surrounding it, that these bags are not accepted in our program. Shame on Glad for telling people to go ahead and throw these in their recycling containers without checking with their local programs first!
submitted byKristin - 4 years agoA: People.... you have to look at your specific locale. There's no one answer here. I can confirm where I live, they do take plastic bags. Just because your town doesn't, doesn't mean other places don't. You can't take advice from a general environmentalist; because they don't know the specifics of every city. Also, paper bags aren't any more environmentally friendly than plastic due to the way they're manufactured.
submitted byEyeSpy - 2 years agoA: Jade, that is not true. They would not pick up my recycling because it was in a bag. The color didn’t matter. I even called to confirm it was because of the blue bag and they said... no bags. Period.
submitted byKris B - 3 years agoA: Glad's creation and sale of this product is greenwashing at its finest. This product should not be allowed to be sold as it does not fulfill consumer expectations in real-world settings (where plastic bags, linings, wraps are often tossed into landfills at best). Plastic films are seldom accepted anywhere -- which is ironically how I came across this product's existence (I've been actively searching for a location to drop off my plastic bags for recycling). Alternatives to this deceiving product: From plastic bin to curb or recycling "dumpster" is best, and if you need a temporary container to store it in, reusing a paper bag from your grocery might be next best.

This product is amazing for recycling. As long as the bag is not filled with anything too heavy! These can sometimes rip if poked with something sharp. But 98% of the time they don’t. As long as you are using them the correct way. 10/10 would recommend.
