After two pumps, the bottle completely stopped dispensing the product. I had to remove the nozzle then the translucent plastic pump with pliers. Then I have to shake the product upside down just to get product (like how you would with a ketchup bottle). A bit messy, but Im not throwing the product away.

I love the product...but the dispenser..i don’t know if mine was a lemon but in order for me to even get any product out I have to bang the pump down or nothing will come out. I have two little ones. Under two. So a shower is relaxing for me. I don’t want to work to get my products. It’s a shame because the amount I did get to use I love how it made my hair feel.

great product for 2b/2c/3a, high porosity lo-poo method but TERRIBLE applicator
4 out of 5 stars
Robinna - 2 years ago, Verified purchaser
Hair story: Long 2b/2c with work/diffusing = 3a/3b; high porosity; highlighted/damaged ends; oily/flat roots I've been going down the CG road for quite a while and finally settled on lo-poo/sulfate free clarifying for my roots... but my ends need serious help! I have highlights and I also run daily so my hair often ends up with sweat/salt/sunscreen/sun damage which causes so much damage and tangling to already fragile hair - even if I braid or put my hair in a bun. I use the Curl Repair Mask after my clarifying shampoo (I haven't found the perfect one yet although the Kristin Ess Deep Clean is one of my favorites). For the Deep Clean shampoo, I scrub my roots only, let it sit for a few seconds, wash out, reapply a second wash if my hair is really dirty, and then... use this mask to coat 3/4 of the way to the ends. I finger comb out the tangles, working the product through any knots or extra damaged areas. I rinse with warm water, followed by a COLD rinse (high porosity needs sealing - yes, I do this even in the winter!), and then use NYM's Curl Talk 3-in-one as a leave in (same location) instead of a curl cream. Honestly, this has worked the best for me. I get amazing, bouncy, shiny, soft curls even if I use no gel or other styling products! If I diffuse dry, I have beautiful 3a/3b hair! I love how it melts into my hair and it works out my knots like nothing else! It also doesn't leave a ton of buildup and I use it several times a week.... and it even smells nice! I would BUY A TUB OF THIS IF IT WERE PACKAGED THAT WAY! I have repurchased this multiple times and keep it on hand at all times. However, the pump is terrible. I need 3-4 pumps to get enough for my long / damaged hair. As others have mentioned, I take apart the container to get the last out. It is no easy feat. It is also not uncommon for the pump to fail with more than half of the product still in the bottle. :-( Please, put this in a tube or even better yet, make a tub for those of us who are fans of this stuff! I love this stuff. I've used Pacifica, NYM Curl Talk, DevaCurl, Aguage, Curlsmith, Perfect Hair Day, Ouidad, Loreal (both the curl line and Wonder water), Acure, PureZero, Love Beauty Planet, and a ton of "curl" product lines I've found through Amazon. Hands down this has been one of the best detangler/masks for detangling my hair without leaving me with straight, limp hair. I just wish the applicator was better and/or it came in a much larger size. This is an entirely honest review. I've had such a hard time finding things that work with my hair that when I do find a product that actually works well, I write long reviews (like this one!) Good luck, CGs!

I liked this product, but there are definitely products I prefer to this one. It was effective enough for me to use it all up, but not effective enough for me to ever buy again.

Okay product but absolutely HORRIBLE pump. I didn’t want to waste my money by throwing it away so I’ve decided to cut the top off just to get to the hair product. I don’t recommend this because of the annoyance the packaging has caused.

Think I have found the right hair mask
4 out of 5 stars
kkar901 - 2 years ago
I found this item on clearance and it was the last one available at the store I shopped at. I decided to give it a try after I shampoo and before I put conditioner on. After leaving this on my damp hair for about 5 minutes and rinse off, my hair feels very hydrated. The pump worked great, it does pump out quite an amount each time, unlike how others claimed in their complain about the pump.

Great product, almost deal breaker terrible packaging. The pump head failed after about three uses and I had to use my tools to pry off the top so use the rest of the product. This wasn't easy! Upgrade the packaging to something simpler! The product was great though but I won't buy again until they have new packaging.

Malfunctioning Pump
1 out of 5 stars
AmyK - 2 years ago, Verified purchaser
To be fair, I don't know how this conditioner performs, as the pump refuses to function. I got about two pea sized blobs of conditioner out after pumping a new bottle about 60 times, eventually giving up in frustration.

I just recently went blonde in my hair was so crunchy. Nothing was helping except OlaPlex no. 3 But it’s pretty pricey for how small the bottle is. This product is a game changer my hair so soft it’s not crunchy anymore after going blonde I wish I would have found this sooner.

I’m on my second bottle of this stuff and it’s amazing!!! I use it after another hydrating conditioner, and leave it on for 10 minutes, and it makes my hair feel so silky and soft! I’m working on repairing my hair and it definitely helps! I wish it was cheaper considering it’s a drugstore product, but it definitely does its job.

I would love to tell you whether or not this mask worked well or not, but I can’t. The pump mechanism is AWFUL, especially because if it gives out, there’s no way to open the actual bottle without harming yourself, as I did. Maybe an inch worth of product came out in total before the pump gave out and stopped working. I tried to use a butter knife to open the bottle (stupid of me, I know) but cut my hand instead. Even my husband tried to fix it and couldn’t. TEST THE PUMP BEFORE YOU BUY!

Great product! Didn’t see a lot of results after my first use, but the second time was the charm! My hair has medium thickness, is corse, and very persnickety. Once a week I use a purple shampoo fallowed by some type of mask. Following this mask, I let my hair air dry to 80% and then put it in two puns at the top of my head using silk scrunchys and went to bed. In the morning, I shook my hair out and my curls held all day long! so happy with the results

This mask is changing my hair game. I've been using it 2x a week to add back moisture that was lost from previous color damage. This product is amazing!! My curls (2b mixed curls, thick, waist length) are much softer since I've started using this product. It will definitely be a staple in my hair routine now.

HOLY GRAIL...BETTER THAN VIRGIN HAIR!!

Y’all I don’t usually write reviews but I HAD TO for this absolute miracle in a bottle sent from the Gods. I only used it one time and my hair is better than it has EVER been. I’m tellin y’all...EVEN BETTER THAN VRIGIN HAIR! My hair is SO SOFT, SILKY, SMOOTH. I have fine but curly hair. My curl pattern is a combination of soft waves and ringlets. It didn’t weigh my hair down at all. It’s still voluminous and bouncy. The day I tried it, I went out in 95% humidity weather. Usually that means my hair poofs up into a frizzy monster mane that can only be saved by throwing it up in a bun and hoping for the best, okay... I left it down and had almost ZERO frizz. Let me repeat that: ALMOST. ZERO. FRIZZ. The only frizz I had was at the crown, which is ALWAYS have frizz there no matter the weather. I also followed the package instructions and only applied from mids to ends. Might apply it to my roots too next time and see if it brings a complete end to my frizz demons... the ONLY bad thing about this, as other reviews said, is the pump. It does suck and only lets out a very small amount and you really have to work for it. But a price I’m willing to deal with for this blessed product. Other than that. THIS IS IT YALL. THIS IS THE PRODUCT YOUVE BEEN WAITING FOR. THIS IS YOUR SIGN. BUY IT. BUY IT NOW.

I absolutely love Kristin Ess products!! i naturally have thick hair with loose curls, last summer i bleached and dyed my hair multiple times and it RUINED my hair texture. it was so dry and frizzy and my curls were totally gone. Even before that, i’ve always had a hard time finding products that work well for my hair. I started using Kristin Ess products last Fall and now, my hair is soft and shiny, and i have the most beautiful curls that i’ve ever had. My hair is healthier now than when it was virgin hair! Anyway, about two days ago I dyed my hair for the first time since last summer and i was really worried about it messing up the texture again, so i picked up this mask. After i dyed my hair, it was a little dry and frizzy and the curls weren’t quite as pretty as they were before, so i put this mask on my hair ONE TIME, and my hair is back to normal, if not better than before dyeing it. The curls are formed so beautifully, and it’s sooo shiny and smooth, no frizz!! ( Also, the scent of the Kristin Ess curl products is amazing. it’s a subtle earthy smell, kind of woodsy, which i love because it’s not super fragranced or artificial smelling, and also because of the woodsy smell, it doesn’t smell girly so it would be great for anyone, not just girls!! my boyfriend uses my Kristin Ess curl products!) (the first picture is my hair last summer and the second picture is my hair today, after using this line of products!!)
