Q: hello! what's the bristle made of? I'm looking for a vegan pastry brush and I was wondering if this one is vegan? Thank you!
submitted by fafa - 2 years ago
A: The pastry brush bristles are made of natural boar hair.

Q: Is this just for pastry, or can it be used to spread butter on a hot griddle?
submitted by Pat - 4 years ago
A: Hello, This is Eric from OXO. Thank you for this question on Target.com. OXO recommends to use this pastry brush for only pastry. Best, OXO

I have not liked the newer silicone brushes. I prefer the bristles be a brush and was pleased to find this product.

I was preparing baklava, and I needed to brush each sheet with butter. Later, I discovered that hairs from the brush ended up in the food after baking🙄😡

I love that the handle is thoughtfully curved so I can place the brush on the counter without making a mess, but like so many other reviewers said, the bristles are constantly falling out. I have to carefully check everything I use it on to be sure I haven't left bristles behind. Disappointing, esp from Oxo.

Just like everyone else has said, the bristles fall out one by one, but sometimes in chunks. An unexpected miss from Oxo, who usually puts out really quality products. Swapping for a silicone option.

I just threw this away after purchasing it last month. The bristles were nonstop coming off and attaching to the food I was brushing. I only used this a couple of times - to make pretzels, buns, and pizza. I was definitely disappointed as this was my first bristle pastry brush.

Unfortunately I have to agree with the rest of the reviews. Lost bristles 1st use and every one that followed. Basically just trash 😩

This pastry brush is absolutely awful. It’s impossible to use without the bristles falling out and getting stuck into the food.

I would give this lower if I could. The bristles came out immediately. I threw it away after three or four uses. What a waste of money.

Wish I’d read the reviews, but I purchased in-store. Haven’t even used it yet, just washed it first - and the bristles are coming out. Absolute garbage and will be returning.

Purchased recently, and used this brush just a few times, to apply a light coat of oil to the parchment paper for baking. From the first time I used the brush, when washing it, I noticed bristles in the sink ... they were obviously falling off the brush. I let it go thinking it was because it was new ... but not so. A couple more times, I pulled on the bristles very lightly before use, and noticed that some were coming off in my hand.

Used once for brushing butter onto dough. Looks like stuff is still stuck onto the bristles even after washing by hand and running through dishwasher. It literally smells bad. Lots of bristles coming out.
