Sharper Image Steam Mop - S1-160

It’s okay. It’s not out of this world like the reviews led me to believe. I based my purchase on the reviews. When I got my steam mop, there was a piece missing. I’ll say that the sharper image company did get that rectified quickly. Target said they couldn’t get a hold of the vendor, not sure how I was able to do it so successfully. Target wanted me to return it. It takes at least a minute to warm up and seems to steam mop well. I’ll be getting something else to use in between steam mopping.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I loved that this steam mop could be used on floors and as a handheld steamer for disinfecting sinks, refrigerators, stoves, appliances , toilets, tubs, my cats litter boxes and cleaning window and door tracks. It works well on floors and no residual cleaners left on the floor to endanger my pets. I recommend this steam mop for it's ability to get everything steam cleaned and sanitzed.

I have been waiting forever to finally be able to use this - we recently closed on our home with bamboo floors and we used this to clean the floors prior to moving in. Assembling it was quite easy! I enjoy cleaning my floor with the steam option - it does get hot! So make sure you know the area that you’re cleaning and give it time to cool off. My floor looks and feels a lot cleaner! We have 4 young children - thank goodness we have this to help with our daily cleanups. I like that this mop isn’t that heavy and I can take it up and down the stairs - we have a 3 level home so it helps that this isn’t heavy. So far this steam mop is performing well and has been a nice tool for cleaning the tile and shower in our bathroom. Was a bit underwhelmed by the steam power/production when I tried it the first time, but must have just needed some time to warm up because when I tried again about an hour later (having left the machine plugged in) it was much, much better. The water tank seems small in capacity but generates plenty of steam for cleaning our entire bathroom without having to refill. It's well made. I love it! It's loaded with evething that I need for steam mopping my floors and more. It comes with two utility brushes, a brass brush, and a jet nozzle that connect to the steam nozzle. It transformed my steam mop to an awesome hand held steamer that works great! My hand held steamer cleans just about anything in my house! It transforms back into my steam mop when I attach the extension pole The extension pole is a good quality, easy to connect, and is light wieght. It works! I I don't have to spend extra money on cleaning solutions. It's sterilizing my kitchen, floors, and bathroom. I love all of the functionality. I am impressed with my Sharper Image SI-160 Steam Mop. First time ever using this brand steam mop and found it to work really well. Assembling it is a breeze. The spout cup is easy to fill (just slide the rubber piece over to fill it and put back into place) and snap it into the handle. When I plugged it in (there’s no on/off button), it said it would be ready to use within 25-30 seconds but I just heard a ticking noise but I think that was just the water seeping into the mop and actually takes about a minute or two in order for it to be completely ready. The trigger, when pressed, releases the steam. I personally don’t care for the trigger because it seems to get in the way of handling the mop when mopping. I like the triangle head as it’s easy to reach into corners easier. The mop pad (two are included) stays on well with velcro and doesn’t slip or slide off. The mop glides very easily over floors and gets HOT! I was curious to see how hot it gets and was pleased at how well it steams! My floors look and feel clean so it does a great job at getting into the grooves on my floor. What I’m disappointed most about is that there isn’t a cord keeper on this mop and no place to keep the attachments. I can wrap it around the handle but it doesn’t really stay and constantly slips off. This could very easily be a five star mop if these two features could be improved. I love this steam mop! It's so easy to use and comes with a lot of accessories. It heats up in seconds and makes my floors look and feel so clean. I love that you can detach from the wand and use the handheld to get hard to reach areas or to steam clean countertops. The included carpet glider is great to get out stains on rugs or carpets and to disinfect, great since I have young kids and a cat that like to make messes. Since I only have carpet in one room in my home I needed some to clean my floor and I've been reading a lot on the benefits of steam. This steam mop is just what I needed very easy to use, I use it the kitchen and my living room and it all works the same and give me the clean and shine I'm looking for. In our living room, we have travertine tiles. They are beautiful but they get SO dirty with kids and a dog. Every few years we have someone professionally clean it but I am always left feeling a bit disappointed. With this, I can use the handheld steam brush attachment and really get into those stubborn cracks and grout on the tile. It it tedious but this is leaving my tile looking brand new. This Sharper Imagine steam mop I awesome! I have owned one steam mop of a different brand & this one definitely surpasses the one I previously owned/used! First, let me start by saying that the unboxing & assembly process was super easy. Everything slides & snaps together quickly & the mop pads attach simply by Velcro. The mop has a very long cord too, so I can easily use it with plenty of cord to spare. Not only that but it's true, the water heats up & is ready to use in about 25 seconds! The water canister fills up by pulling open a rubber stopper. Once full, close the stopper tightly & slide the container back into the top of the device. The steam is hot & powerful in a hurry! I love that no matter if it is in mop mode or handheld mode, on the side of the device, near the handle, there is a sliding bar. It has - & + symbols that adjust the level of steam flow that comes out of the device! Once heated, when you press the orange power button, the steam starts coming out. It will run for 15 mins before shutting off. But, if needed it can but shut off by pressing the button again. I have used the mop multiple times over the last week. My aide (I'm a power wheelchair user) helped me use it in mop mode in the kitchen. The mop itself in mop mode isn't heavy, it is just a little harder for me to push the mop, steer my chair & avoid running over/getting tangled in the cord. My kids both used it to mop the bathroom (they love it, it's fun lol) & I used it in handheld mode to steam clean my couch! It all works so well. My one picture even shows the mop pad after mopping the kitchen (+ flow) & how much dirt was picked up! The only thing I need to find & purchase is replacement mop pads, because this 2-in-1 steamer will be the main cleaning device In my apartment! This Sharper Image 160 Steam Mop has become my new go-to mop for cleaning. The steam mop itself looks very modern and durable. I like the color of the mop as it has a very sleek appearance. Using the steam mop was a breeze, and the instructions were very clear. Set up was easy and it wasn’t too long before I was cleaning and steaming away. The 2-in-1 feature is pretty interesting as well, I like the fact that you have two options on how to clean and this makes it easier to get to those harder to reach areas. The mop itself feels sturdy and has some weight to it, it doesn’t seem flimsy at all. I was very satisfied with how clean my floors turned out after using this steam mop. I have owned a few steam mops so I know my steam mops. The Sharper Image SI-160 stood out to me as it’s much sturdier than I’m used to. The parts are made of stronger material which makes me feel it’ll stand the test of time. The mop is triangular in shape which I imagine is to assist in to getting in to tight areas and corners. The mop was easy to assemble and the water reservoir was easy to fill. I did find that it took a few tries to actually get the steam to start coming. I pressed the button on and off a few times until it got going, but once it did, it stayed on. This steam mop didn’t leave my floors wet as others do, rather lightly damp. The steam level can be adjusted, though I used it at max steam. I was happy to see that it was successful in getting out a couple of stubborn built up spots on my floors. The cord is long which is a well thought out detail, letting me continuously mop the floors throughout my apartment. The mop doesn’t have an area to loop the cord around, which I thought was lacking. I also found the mop to be on the heavy side (along the lines of a vacuum cleaner). I guess that is due to it not being made of flimsy material, though I still do wish it was a bit lighter. My biggest issue with this mop is that it doesn’t stand on its own. You need to lean the handle against something as the handle doesn’t prop up to stand. I also found that the buttons didn’t fully snap into place as they should, though perhaps I need to be more forceful in snapping it into place. I haven’t used it in the handheld form yet but I’m excited to. This feature is so innovative and I love that it’s all integrated into one product. The harder brush for the mop may be interesting to try out as well for the really tough stains. All in all, I find this mop to be innovative and generally well made.
