Q: Is this good for women to use?
submitted by Kierstyn - 5 years ago
A: Yes! I purchased this Van Der Hagen razor quite a while ago and had to purchase another recently because I left behind my original while vacation. Before repurchasing i’ve read reviews that woman have had great experiences shaving their legs and ect... vs disposal, 2, and 3+ blade systems. Good luck!

These razors are great, doing more research on them I find that cleaning and drying them is a must after use, or you have to pay the price of rust and not being able the change the blade. Overall gives a shorter cleaner cut then a typical plastic blade, the handle may be more expensive but the blades last a long time(if you make sure to clean and dry after use) and are cheap to refill.
Very disappointed

After a week it preformed great, until the turning mechanism seized up and I couldn't change the blade. I tried to fix, however was unsuccessful and pitched it in the garbage. So sad, thank you Target.

I went to change a blade but it's broken, one of the little locking nubs broke off the razor after about a month.

The handle showed visible signs of rust within 10 days and rusted completely shut within three weeks. I also got multiple cuts every time I shaved. I thought it was just me getting used to a safety razor. I’ve replaced it with a Merkur, and I’ve had zero cuts.

Clean shave every time. Very impressed with razor blades and how affordable it is to replace. Blades are sharp but you do feel light tug but im sure there are other blades you can use with this safety razor. Or maybe im just used to mach 3 blades. Disposing of razors is easy. It takes practice and patience to master a clean cut free shave.

After shaving with this razor I still get lots of cuts covering my neck. My wife got a long cut in her leg using this the first time. I thought because this razor is so widely available it would just an good shave. I asked around and found this is a very aggressive razor. I spend more on a nicer safety razor, the Leaf Twig, and after a week I haven't had one cut and neither has my wife. Look for safety razors with a "mild" smooth shave. Far too many have an aggressive shave with no warning.
Horrible safety razor

Gave this multiple tries, and I keep regretting it. After my last safety razor broke, I switched to this one. It might work on facial hair, but I have to make multiple passes on my legs to get them smooth. Don’t use this on any sensitive areas with more course hair. Trust me. Will be throwing this away and switching to something different ASAP.

Sorry for the weird picture. Well, wanted to try a new razor for once, this looked intriguing, i usually use the Harry's razors which work fantastic. Blade was about as sharp as a pillow and cut me with out me realizing it u til i was done shaving.
Pay a little more for higher quality

I’ve used a safety razor before and love them. I wanted to buy another because my husband kept taking mine. I saw this at target and figured it was cheap and I couldn’t really go wrong with the simplicity that is a safety razor. Yeah… no. This thing sucks. It’s not super comfortable to hold in the first place, but the really bad part is that I can’t get the darn thing open. I’ve never been able to change the blade! I think the other one I had was a Merkur (hard to remember because I bought it probably 7 years ago), so I will be buying another one of those. Target, carry a better brand!

Will rust if you forget to take out of the shower. I wish the handle was longer or at least extendable. I feel like it took longer to get a close shave with this. It is on the cheaper side so I guess you get what you pay for.

Blades Are Too Dull Out The Box, They Pull On Every Hair And Irritate The Skin. I Was Better off Buying A Normal Razor. I Even Got The Shaving Butter Made For This, No Use.

Hard to use. Overpriced. Cut me badly without even noticing. Regular Gillette is superior.
Comes with everything except razor burn.

Watch a few videos, go slow, and learn the contours of your face. After a few weeks you’ll get the closest shaves of your life with less irritation, for less money, and less waste for the environment. A lot of reviews say the blades are dull but that’s on purpose. Learning to shave with dull blades means less cuts. In fact I’ve only cut myself once on these blades yet have been able to get an insanely close shave. I’m looking to upgrade to sharper blades now that I’m getting pretty good though :)
Rusted Shut

I was really enjoying this razor but a few months in, the twisty part at the bottom (which opens and closes the top where you swap razors) has rusted shut. Having purchased this razor to reduce waste, I am so sad that this will have to end up in a landfill.
Warning. Will rust.
