Keeping in mind that this series was originally for teens, I did not expect it to be a power hitter like some adult-based movies along the same subject matter. I will say, however, that despite it being so hyped by people when it first hit theaters, I found it to be a good story. It was satisfying, but left me with the feeling that it could have been a little more. The actress that played the role of Katniss is indeed talented and has a future ahead of her. Some people may find the "violence" disturbing, but it is not graphic nor gratuitous as it does serve a purpose in the storyline. If you want features, get the S.E. BluRay. All-in-all a good film worth checking out. see less

Actually, I finished the book the first night I had it in my possession. It's an action packed adventure mixed with love, romance, suspense and betrayal. Love this dystopian view of America's future, the strong young adult characters and their dissing the government. An easy read, but it is dark. Oh, forgot to mention, it is better than then movie. see less

I don't read many young adult books anymore, and it's even rarer to find a book that ISN'T about vampires. Thank god for Suzanne Collins! She does not have the most complicated prose, and I breezed through the book pretty quickly, but it was very entertaining and kept you on your seat. You found yourself cheering for Katniss and booing the Capital and taking gasps of horror even at certain points. Admittedly, the idea of teens killing each other in a battle royale is a bit gruesome, so I might not suggest it for your younger reader, but anyone middle-school and up can appreciate it, and if your child doesn't like reading, maybe this can help change that. I would highly recommend this book to anyone and everyone. May the odds be ever in your favor. see less

I recently bought our Granddaughter The Barbie Collector Hunger Games Katniss Doll. At 9 years old it has become more difficult to get an enthusiastic response like when she was a toddler. But this Katniss Doll was a big hit! I got points for coolness as well as "You knew exactly what I wanted. You're the best Grandma ever!" [...] They aren't very big, i mean they probably are about the size as the ones on the movie but i was expecting just a tad bit bigger! They are nicely made but not durable i think if you packed them too full and carried it for long periods it would probably break! They are a cool prop i will probably use them for my lunches i take to work! Definitely buy here, and beware the ones on [retailer] and [reatiler], they are too expensive! see less

I wasn't sure what to expect since there was only 1 review. The review said that you only get one type and that would have been disappointing, but I took a chance anyway, hoping that we would get at least District 12. Well, I was pleasantly surprised to find that we got all of the bags! We got #2, #5, #11 and three #12 bags for a total of 6 bags! The size is great and my kids had a fun time with the bags - the size is great for carrying around smaller items too! So, when it says "assortment", it means that you get all of the numbers referenced on the description and a couple of extra District 12 bags! Great fun if you are having a Hunger Games party...if you order a few as favors and don't mind handing out other District numbers, these are a great size bag to put snacks, favor stuff, etc. see less
