Q: There's plastic inside the kettle on the pour spout and strainer. I removed the strainer, but can't get the plastic pour spout off. Is this removable?

submitted by Lindsay - 7 months ago
  • A: The transparent material they mentioned is actually transparent plastic

submitted byBd - 5 months ago
  • A: Thank you for inquiry regarding the Cuisinart Electric Teakettle. There is no plastic that the water comes into contact with once boiling. The clear material on the water level indicator is made of TPX Polymethylpentene the characteristics are similar to those of traditional polyolefins TPX features superb clarity, transparency, gas permeability, heat and chemical resistance and release qualities. The CPK-17 Teakettle is BPA free. Thank you for your continued interest in Cuisinart products.

Q: Where is the kettle made?

submitted by Sheila - 2 months ago
  • A: Thank you for your inquiry. All of Cuisinart’s electronics and most of the cookware are manufactured in China. We have some non-electric tea kettles that are made in Thailand, and we have a Cookware set that is made in France, called our French Collection.

Q: They say that the water does not come in contact with plastic, but the window where you can see the level IS plastic. Just because it’s BPA free doesn’t mean it’s not plastic. So, it DOES come in contact with the plastic that is window, correct?

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This was a replacement for our Breville kettle. Our Cuisinart kettle has 6 temperature settings to choose from as compared to 1 for the Breville. The water level window in the Cuisinart is illuminated making it easier to see. This kettle has many more features and a sleek design.

Disappointed in the design and some features

I bought this electric kettle and have been using it daily for a few weeks. I’m a bit disappointed with the fat clunky handle and spout. Also, some of the settings (green tea) don’t turn off. I have to unplug the unit. I haven’t tried the automatic turn off after five minutes feature, because I don’t want it to stay on if that feature doesn’t work.

Don't buy a cheaper electric kettle

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Someone gave me a cheaper electric kettle, which lasted a year and a half before it died, and reviews of other cheap electric kettles showed the same short lifespan. The NYT Wirecutter had recommended Cousins, which is a trusted name, and I expect my investment to last. No more boiling over, no more resets necessary--just does what you paid for it to do, and does it smoothly without any drama when you're just trying to make a coffee first thing in the morning.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve had this product for a few weeks and have been thrilled with it. It has performed up to its description in every way. The correct temperature settings for different types of teas actually did make a difference in their taste. The large capacity has been great for when company is over. I have not found it to be too heavy to pour when full as some other reviews I read before buying noted

The markings on the pot are easy to read, especially with the light feature. Stainless steel is durable and wipes down nicely. Solid pot and base.

    Cuisinart Tea Pot-cordless electric kettle

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love Cuisinart products but this one is a disappointment. I loved my previous teapot and bought this one because I loved my last one so much. I find this one does not heat up as quickly which isn't a big drawback but it is extremely noisy when heating up. It is cumbersome to fill with water due to the narrow opening and I cannot see the fill line.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is an excellent kettle, fast working with a great range of presets for a wide variety of teas and beverages. I find the unit to be heavy, which makes it awkward to lift and maneuver. I personally find it's best to not fill it to capacity.

Returned, because it is aggravating. Kettles are for boiling water. 99% of the time. This thing defaults to some tea setting. Each time you separate it from the base for more than 2 minutes, the definitely comes back. Then it constantly flashes instead of turning itself off. I want a kettle that doesn't irritate it's owner.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This replaces a traditional cuisinart kettle purchased some 10 years ago, which stopped working properly. I like the blue led light, water level window, good capacity, stay warm feature, and various settings for different types of teas and coffee. The insulated kettle is also new to me. All in all, an improvement, though I have to admit I always liked the traditional kettle look. Just me… The 4 star rating is because I don’t know if it will last beyond 3-year warranty. It really should last “forever!”
