Q: the descriptions says they are stainless steel - are they coated with something? What material is used in the coating to make them black?

A: This answer can't be right...Bc they are 100% coated and the coating comes off after the first use. Terrible.

A: Mine didn't even hold up to hand washing, so I would say no. Also, if I put these in my dishwasher, the flaking off paint would clog it. So don't recommend even buying these.

I purchased these on their release date and have been putting them in the dishwasher since and haven’t had a single chip! We use these literally on a daily basis and they have held up great! I purchased the newest measuring cups that came out, but I still grab these to cook with!

These are the worst every! Don’t waste your money! Target should be refunding anyone who bought these. Sure they are cute but the black coating comes off instantly even if you hand wash them. So they look super crap and I have to now through them all away.

Beautiful on the shelf in the store, but awful for actual use. The handles have now broken off three of the cups and the black finish continues to scrape off (even with hand washing). I am very disappointed in the quality of this item.

I am extremely disappointed in the product and nervous that I have fed my family some of the paint chips. I noticed a black spec in my dinner ingredients casserole forcing me to throw an entire dinner away. All of them have chipped and after inspecting them closer. They were discarded immediately, but I know that they may have chippped off in my other meals which makes me nervous.
