Q: Could I use these for storing pickles?

A: While these have a seal they are not air tight. So you may use them for the fermenting process, but, after fermented, and for storing, you would need an air-tight container. These would not work for storing.

Q: Are these lead and cadmium free? Also, is the red a bright fire engine red, or more a dark cranberry type red?

A: These canisters are food contact safe and prop 65 compliant. The color is a dark red.

These arrived quickly and are just as described. The paint on the top of the middle canister is a bit rough, but I plan to keep them anyway. Also they are hand wash only. However, the packaging material is *awful*! They are in solid styrofoam so when you try to take them out little tiny pieces go everywhere. And stick to everything. Target, you can improve this packaging!

These canisters are a nice size and the colors and floral designs are gorgeous. That said, I still may return them because they don't seal so they would have to serve as a decoration only and who really has counter space for that? While each lid has a "latex?" seal, they do not fit tightly or seal so anything put inside is going to attract insects. I sure don't want to deal with that!

This is a beautiful set and it really brightened up my kitchen. The lid on the largest canister doesn't seal as well as it should, so that is a disappointment.
