This was a fun game. Great to have a choose your own adventure and play with family or friends. With that being said, there is a lot of reading and this is no short game., assuming you don’t lose along the way. The chapters continue and continue. The fact this is a choose your own adventure and there is so much story and so many chapters does provide a good amount of replay value for those into this kind of game. I would recommend for the patient, time available gamers.

I purchased this game for my grand daughter, who loves the books. It is a great game. It is something that they can play alone or with others. Each chapter requires about an hour. We did two chapter and then took a break. It is something you can pick up anytime and have a fresh start.

It was a good game! I played it with two of my friends and we all enjoyed it. There is no win or lose more like a making your own adventure type game. I wouldn’t recommend for a party game but it can be for a quiet couples game night.

When I was young, I played Fighting Fantasy, a series of single-player role-playing gamebooks created by Steve Jackson and Ian Livingstone. With the House of Danger - Choose your own Adventure Board Game, now all my family can play this kind of game together. A must!

This game was just like reading a classic choose your own adventure book - we loved the experience in game format! The story is kind of different than I remember them being, but still true to the old books and great to play with someone who knows them too. I’m not sure how well this game would work with people who don’t already know Choose Your Own Adventure books

I feel like this game is essentially reading a choose your own adventure book aloud except now you need to get people to agree with you on where to go next. I found it to be slow paced and a little boring.

Game had 2 chapter 3s in there and its past time to bring back to store so emailed company that says it could take 2 weeks for response. So I will not play it until a chance to see if we can get all the proper pieces of the game. Kiddo and husband opened the game a while back without double checking all pieces were there. Errors can happen but it's frustrating to see a duplicate in there instead of a complete set. If the company fixes this, then I will update review.

I am only on chapter 1 of 5 and it’s absolutely amazing, the twists and turns are so much fun. Seeing as this is based off of the old choose your own adventure books from the 70’s and 80’s it’s also super nostalgic. Definitely worth buying, there’s also a second game in the series that I will be buying soon and may even start collecting old choose your own adventure books.

We had fun with this game. But to be honest with you- we only played it once and wouldn’t play it again. Your supposed to be able to play it more than once and have different scenarios but we feel like it’s going to be the same thing over and over again.

I’m honestly not that into boardgames a lot of times. But, this game was so fun and engaging. It is about 3+ hours of gameplay. And unless you get the perfect outcome the first time you get more games out of it. I’d highly recommend if you’re looking for something fun to do while quarantining. My friends and I are in our late 20s and early 30s and had a great time playing.

Not a Board Game - 4 years ago
I wouldn't call this a board game. If you enjoy choose your own adventure books but want it in a non-traditional book format, then this is for you. If you are looking for a collaborative game play or any sort of board game style play, this is not it.

The instructions in the game claim that there should be a "bag" included to hold the cards, but the description here does not mention the bag. We found that weird. The writing is great though, and it's not always two choices, sometimes there's action moves before you choose the path you want to take. Unfortunately, the replaying will get boring since you know what's going to happen if you've already played, like the other review mentions. We like the books better but this is still a good game.

This is such a fun game! I played it with a group of friends that gets together every month to play board games, and we had a blast with this (even though our expectations weren’t all that high going in). The story is funny/campy and we didn’t want to stop. It’s basically cooperative storytelling and decision-making, with only a couple of rules, so it’s easy for anyone to pick up and play. Replayability isn’t super high, but it’s pretty cheap. I think I’ll get at least a few play-throughs of it (planning to play with coworkers next), then I’ll probably pass it along so someone else can enjoy it. I really hope they make more of these... I’d pick up the next one in a heartbeat.
