Very expensive for the quality. Not worth the price. When I had my first child 7 years ago the quality of this item was great. It worked perfectly and lasted years, it never broke. I ended up giving it away when we didn’t need it anymore. I just bought one with my second child and out of the box, the mismatched colors are ugly. When you go to empty it, the entire cutter assembly falls out. It doesn’t not feel sturdy at all and like another reviewer said, the parts don’t sit flush with each other. It’s a horrible product. Don’t waste your money.

This is the worst. If I could score this with zero stars, I would. It’s poorly manufactured and poorly designed. It doesn’t assemble well, so it’s difficult to use—if you look at it wrong, it starts to fall apart. Nothing is flush (which negates its purpose.) You end up having to put your hand down the genie in order to not have the diapers over flow—even with newborn diapers. The bag system requires access to scissors to reload—it’s a two person job to not make a mess. It’s more trouble than it’s worth. I want my money back.

Had high expectations butttt… it did not work for me at all. Some part was faulty and wouldn’t stay up so whenever we pushed a diaper in, it’d push the faulty part down and the chute wouldn’t open anymore. I had to manually pry it open. I didn’t even bother trying to return it because my postpartum hormones made me lose it LOL Just ended up buying the select one (stainless steel) which i should’ve gone with the first time. Lesson learned!

I used to have the old version and it worked for 3 years but this broke in a month. The lid doesn't close on its own, bag cutter and handle keep falling out. When I contacted the Diaper Genie customer support they said they are going to replace the lid because they are "nice that way" lol. How about you replace the whole thing and don't make crappy products?!

I had the previous model of this diaper genie & loved it, it lasted for years! A piece finally started to come loose which I could have still used it but I figured let’s just buy a new one since it’s been so good. That was a mistake! This is nothing like the original, it’s never worked as good/been the same since we first bought it & now a couple months in the top lid broke completely off so it’s useless! It goes flying every time you push it open now.

I have used the Diaper Genie with both of my children and it really worked to store soiled pampers Papers. It has ease of cleanup and the bags are easy to change. One of the best features is that it helps to mask the odor.

This thing broke on me almost immediately. Target doesn’t care if you registered for the item. If you don’t have a “valid receipt,” which you wouldn’t if you registered, you have to use your license to return for in store merchandise credit only. The catch is that you have a $100 lifetime return limit without a receipt. In this day and age, $100 gets you basically nothing. And when you have a baby, you will inevitably have several things to return. It also doesn’t matter if you have the Mastercard. I wish I had registered elsewhere. So if you in haven’t already, don’t waste your time. Go elsewhere. Clearly, Target doesn’t care about their customers.

I got recommended this product and within 2 months it is completely broken. The lid doesn’t close and the inside no longer opens when you press the foot pedal. The trash can is very flimsy and made out of cheap plastic. Definitely not worth your money.

Extremely disappointed. Ordered the diaper genie a few months before our baby was born. As the due date got closer opened it and got it set up. Realized after the first two diapers were thrown in that the compartment that catches the diaper then releases it to the bottom is not working. The right side won’t move up or down, so the diapers are just sitting on the top. And when I manually force them to the bottom the panels aren’t rotating up to seal off the smell. Very frustrating as I’ve heard nothing but good things. Going to have to look for something else.

If I could, I would leave no stars. This product is HORRIBLE. Used it for a month and it broke the handle outside the inside where you cut the bag on the little knife area. It’s very flimsy doesn’t close correctly. Buy something else save your money it’s not even cheap. I wish I read the reviews before I purchased this.

Like many other reviewers I have owned several other diaper genies. This one is awful! The plastic is much flimsier and cheaper than our previously owned models. Everything comes apart that isn’t supposed to and it never fully latched/sealed/closed to begin with. Only one month in use and it is useLESS.

Received this as a gift with the “year “supply of diaper bag refills. I don’t believe this pale works as advertised in any type of way other than as a cheap trashcan. The amount of refills lasted seven months, instead of a year. It definitely smells all the time, but the worst when you open it to drop a new dirty diaper in. The plastic is so lightweight and flimsy, it nearly knocks over every time we use it and the door to remove the full bag always gets stuck and doesn’t work well. Maybe the stainless steel ones are better, but I won’t be finding out.

The second one I’ve bought and this one was broken in 4 months after purchasing. Don’t expect for this to last long. I would invest in a stainless steel one.
