Q: Why won’t it turn on? It’s brand new, leveled, plugged in, has half a tank of water, attached correctly/tight but nothing happens.

  • A: Just place equal parts of vinegar and water in to the tank and let it run for a cycle. When that is done, we recommend using softened water.

  • A: That really depends on the hardness of your water. The more minerals you have, means you should change the filter more often to remove the white dust.

I have had several other Homedics humidifiers and like this model because there’s only 1 tank instead of two, although it was easier to refill the two tank model. Secondly, there are fewer parts to clean but one wonders if all the nasty stuff is just building up in unseen parts of the unit ??

I had been given a similar product as a gift. It failed during the wty period. I contacted Homedics and they sent out a replacement. That failed 7 mos later. When I contacted Homedics for a second time, all they were willing to do was send me out a coupon to put toward the cost of a 2nd replacement. As I told Monique in their Customer Svc Dept, that would not make me whole. She told me that was ALL she could do. In view of the fact that their product had failed twice and that I was, as a result, a very unhappy customer, I told her that it appeared that it was all she WANTED to do. Based on my experience, the reliability of Homedics products speaks for itself as does the company's callous/careless attitude toward their customers. I would not recommend patronizing this company and wasting time and money on their shoddy products.

Just Doesn’t Work

This was a great humidifier for the couple of weeks it worked, and then it just started turning itself off at random times. The timer wasn't set, so it should have run continuously, but it never made it through the night. Sometimes I would hear it shut off before I even fell asleep. I contacted the company to get a replacement under the warranty, and within a week the replacement was turning itself off in the exact same way. I basically bought a hassle instead of a humidifier.

Want to hear the most annoying sound in the world? It's this humidifier. This unit is great at making mist but it is SO LOUD we cannot stand to have it on when we are home. There is no ultrasonic about it. The annoying WHIIIRRRRRLLLL sound it makes could be mistaken for a dying cat. I do not recommend this machine unless you have a super human ability to tune out the yowling death rattle it makes.

This is so noisy. It worked fine for a while now, not so much now. It says whisper quiet on the box. The same thing happened last year, and it was replaced. Now, I can't get anyone to answer the consumer support line for the past week. Even sent online and email requests for assistance. It is only used during the winter months when the heat is on.

I bought this humidifier at Christmas and set it up in my son's room. Worked great at first. One day it wouldnt turn on. It was full, was working the day before. Nothing. No trouble shooting tips with instructions. Unfortunately i couldnt find the receipt and have had no luck calling the number on the websittee.

We received this as a wedding gift and at first it was great. Now every time I turn it on it makes a growling noise and eventually it will stop after you tap it a few times. I tried contacting customer service and explaining it was a gift and I didn’t have a receipt and was right away asked to provide proof of purchase. Don’t purchase if you’re wanting a quiet humidifier.

Stopped working in just under a year. I contacted HoMedics for a warranty claim, but finding a box to ship the product back to get the replacement is weirdly difficult. My warranty is going to expire soon and I don’t want to waste time and cardboard by buying a shipping box… so I’m just going to buy something new.
