Q: pls confirm DPCI # 072-04-2420 KitchenAid Professional 5 plus stand mixer, is this mixer has 450 W motor or 525W motor, discrepancy on item detail description.

submitted by tina20215 - 7 years ago
  • A: I was doubtful, but it DOES have a 525 Watt motor. I even asked Kitchenaid before ordering and they said it would be a 450 Watt. However, once the package arrived the box read 525 Watts and the tags on the unit itself say Max Watts: 525 Watts. It appears that this model at one time had the 450, but has since been upgraded for the 525 Watt. For whatever reason the kitchenaid support did not get the updated documentation so they may mislead you into thinking it is 450 watts. This is a huge power increase and it is noticeable. Having said all of this.. This is a really good deal at this time. For half the cost of a Pro 600 you get a motor that is nearly as powerful. The pro 600 is only stronger by 50 watts (575 watts total). You would barely notice a difference in this case. This model should be able to handle anything the pro 600 can. The only real advantage to the pro 600 is the bigger bowl by 1 quart. Go with this one over the Pro 600. The $200 saving far outweighs the 6 quart bowl over the 5 quart. I hope this finally clears up the question on the watts.

  • A: Bought it 3 weeks ago from Target. Item number 53676245. Online description is wrong. Its a 525 watt motor. I think it's a description for the older model.

submitted byEileen - 3 years ago
  • A: Ours is 525w motor. Plenty of power

submitted byGeez - 7 years ago
  • A: I just received my box and yes it’s 525 watts. Perfect much better than 450 watts, love it.

submitted byCristi - 6 years ago
  • A: All the current models are 525w. Only the older, original ones were 450w.

submitted byAlan - 7 years ago
  • A: I just got of the phone with Kitchen aid and they confirmed 450 watts for this discontinued model. I am still waiting for my order to see what it says on the box and I will call them again.

submitted byNaa - 7 years ago
  • A: Hi Tina20215. This model is now 525 watts.

  • A: As far as I know only models with lifting top come with pouring shield, this is the professional with the bowl lifted up & down.

submitted byMaggie - 5 years ago
  • A: I just ordered one, no regrets on purchase, however I thought for the price it should have came with the shield.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It's taken me many years, but I finally purchased a mixer. This model reminds me of standing next to my grandmother and making baked goods to sell in her market. I chose the pastel blue color because it's like a 1950's color and looks exactly like the one my grandmother had.

Gets better over time

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had nearly the same model for 13 years, and it worked great until the day it died. So I bought this one as a replacement five months ago. I have mostly made bread with the hook attachment. The first few times I used it, it sounded awful. Like the motor was going to give out just from kneading a soft dough. The motor got hot quick, and it smelled like it was burning. However, after a few months of using it, it no longer smells - I'm guessing it was just the fact that it was new, and maybe had some lubricant it had to burn off. It also doesn't act like it's going to die anymore. It's holding up well to be used almost every day. It actually seems like it's getting better over time. I had concerns at first, but I think it was just a new machine working out its kinks. Overall, now that it has been a while, I am satisfied, if a little weary, given the beginning of its use.
