My son was 2 years old when the original Ghostbusters movie came out. As an adult, he's wanted this LEGO set for a long time. I'm thrilled I ordered it when I did because not only is it hard to find, now it's on backorder, Whew! I know he'll love it.

My wife & I are relatively new to Lego, the Ghostbusters Ecto-1 is our 10th build. We really enjoyed the Delorean from Back to the Future and as Land Rover enthusiasts we loved building the classic Defender. But the Ecto-1 is on another level. A fun, innovative kit that has become our favorite build. Highly recommended!

This build was amazing. Took a lot of patience and some skill. Was thrilled with the end result and the multiple things the vehicle could do. I just wish more of these types of builds had working lights.

So awesome. I was worried this set was going to be harder to find and it was. Until somehow the gods at Lego managed to message me and said it’s back in stock. Ordered one immediately. First let me say this is a decently heavy build. I had to step in a few times with my older boys to help and it’s too complicated for the younger boy. Best thing was it was a team effort and we all had a part building it which makes it more fun. Such a great replica of the real thing too. Lego did amazing on this one. Highly recommend if your kids just got into the new Ghostbusters movies or if you want to feel the nostalgia of the old ones.

This set is one of the most detailed, intricate sets I’ve assembled. It has all kinds of little Easter eggs and hidden functions that I just love! I added the Lightailing LED kit and it’s just absolutely stunning.

This build takes a satisfying amount of time and includes a ton of little details that add to the fun. You can decide whether to use all of the rust and aging stickers or keep it shiny. I opted for the LED lighting kit and it makes it look so fun and awesome!

This build is hands down one of if not the absolute funnest I've ever done. The fact that it starts out with what looks like a Haynes repair manual as the building instructions book really set the tone for the entire build. Being based off the Ecto-1 from the new film, some purists may complain about sacrilege but I got one personally e joyed the film tremendously and felt this was an excellent tribute to the whole franchise. The details of the model are very well executed, the interior is very true to what's on the screen and the included engine that no one would ever regularly see is truly a gift from the designers. This set feels like it was designed and built by someone that truly appreciates both the movies, the car itself and cars overall. The rotating radars tied into the rear wheel, the drop down for the remote ghost trap, the side gunners pop out seat, all amazing! I cannot say enough great things about this set. I've built so many Legos in my life and this one was pure joy from start to finish. I highly recommend it to anyone that's a fan of the films, cars and just looks forward to an immensely enjoyable build experience.

How much, only 4800. But in all seriousness, seeing the movie with my son, Afterlife that is and wanting to have a great memory of it, I set out to buy this set. So I sold a majority of my bobblehead collection and bought this the same day. It sat in my closet for almost 2 years because I had nowhere to display it. Needless to say building this was a blast, I had the Ghostbusters soundtrack playing, doing Ghostbusters trivia with my son and laughing the whole time. This build reawakened my love of Lego and I have started selling off the rest of my sports memorabilia collection to buy more sets. I’m hoping to see more Ghostbusters sets in the future. Now to save up for the firehouse and the original Ecto-1. And maybe another one of these to make it look like the Ecto from GB2! Happy Building and God Bless!

This lego set is amazing. Unfortunately every lego set I purchase from Target online arrives destroyed. They do a very poor job packaging them so when they arrive the box is torn up which devalues the set. DON'T BUY ONLINE!

The set was a dream to put together. Instructions were meticulous and detailed. Set was bigger than even I anticipated. The little details matter and this set had them in spades. The side ejecting setup, the working steering, and the little ghost trap remote car from Afterlife was the frosting on this Lego cake. Loved every minute. I will enjoy putting it together again and again. Only complaint would be sometimes the pieces tend to be indecipherable from the black, chrome, and dark pieces on the rare occasion but a little detective solved the problem. Overall, highly recommend for Lego and Ghostbuster fan.

A fantastic set with a disappointing build

I want to start off by saying that the vehicle itself is fantastic, no complaints there. The building process…leaves something to be desired. Now, I've always been cynical of using “fun” colored bricks that aren’t visible in the finished set. But I’ve come around after building Ecto-1. In some ways this set felt like a fun throw-back, with mostly red, blue, yellow, white, black and gray bricks. But in such a big set, it quickly became repetitive. The instructions are complicated/confusing at times, in part because of the lack of different colors. This was also complicated by needing to dump out too many bricks at a time. The bags are numbered up to 11 or 12, but many cases there are two bags with the same number. I wouldn’t discourage anyone from buying this set. Ultimately, the issues listed above felt like the end of an era at LEGO, rather than something we might expect again. I wrote this review for two reasons: 1. LEGO, keep up the good work and improvements. 2. As a builder, if you have to choose between this set or, for example, the Back to the Future DeLorean…you’ll find a much more enjoyable building experience with the latter. Once they’re built though, they both offer great display and play value.

Still getting used to large builds and this one took the 1984 and 2021 films to finish, but I was grinning all the way through. Solid and detailed and capable of bringing back all the nostalgia, this is a must for any fan of either Ghostbusters or Lego.

Should have been my dream build

I’m a huge ghostbusters fan and this was a set I was really looking forward to building. It started off very straightforward, but got increasingly frustrating the further I went into the build. Towards the end, I found the car very structurally unstable towards the front of the roof, thus leaving it unsound to place the final parts of the equipment on top. No doubt this is my error but I was so gutted to get to the final bag and see it wasn’t going to work out. This is my personal review on the product so I’m sure other people have had no problems. I would agree with some of the online reviews that the stickers add nothing to the look of the car.

If your set seems like it's not very sturdy, the best thing to do is double-check your build. Sometimes there may be a piece just a little off from where it should be. You’ll also want to make sure that all the pieces are pressed tightly together. Feel free to reach out to us at LEGO.build/Service-BV if you need assistance!
