A: The doors do not open on this set, however the windshield does come off so that you can add your racer Minifigure of choice in and out! - Sam, LEGO® Customer Service.

I like it Better than star wars

I like this set way better than any of the star wars space ships. My only complaint is that the cars should be scaled to the Size of the mini-dolls as opposed to the minifigs. Since the minifigs don't have human proportions. Overall I would recommend this set.

Longtime Mclaren and Lego fan, first time complaint, this was one of the worst sets I ever bought, parts were missing from the LM which I had to order online then after it was fully assembled i started on the Solus GT which also had parts missing for which i had to order online again, so all in all it took me a month to build this whole set, i recommend after purchase, make sure all the parts are there for you to start building

I. Bought this for my son for Easter and I'm disappointed. The other car was fine but the F1 front does not fit together they way it should. I rebuilt it several times and I will how to modify. I love Lego but they flopped on this one. I shouldn't have to pay food money for something I need to modify.

McLaren Solus GT & McLaren F1 LM Speed Champions

I only recently started purchasing the speed champions and I am loving them. My only issue is the number of stickers. I am not a fan of lots of stickers on my Lego. But the cars are cool and so are the minifigs.
Too fragle for play.

The worst of about 30 Lego sets my son has. The cars are extremely fragile and fall apart if you push down on them or apply anything but the gentlest force. Not recommended for kids or anyone that wants to actually play with the cars once built.

This set is definitely not just for kids! It’s perfect for anyone who is a fan of auto racing, F1, imsa, or indycar! McLaren is becoming one of the best names in racing and having their own LEGO set just proves it. It was an easier set to do than the architectural ones I’m used to, but it was fun to do a set related to one of my passions!
I hate the F1

This review will only be talking about the F1 car because it's the only one I have touched so far. This will also be the first review I write in anger, as of a few minutes ago I gave up trying to put that darn thing together. Most of the pieces on the outside are holding on by only a couple of studs so if you put ANY pressure on the build (which you will need to do to get some of the more stubborn pieces on) they pop off and fly away at mach five. by far the worst offender is the big white piece that is angled so you could fit the wheel in, it pops off with even the slightest push. and to make matters worse I can get it back on for the life of me. I give up, it's not worth it. Maybe the other car is good, I don't know or really care at this point.

We didn’t know it came with to separate cars we thought it was one interchangeable car one or the other style but no it was 2 separate cars very affordable and my nephew loved it but again this is not meant for rough and tumble play they are legos and will fall back apart a child of 7+ with an adult to help build is definitely necessary!
Could do without the Solus

I could have done without the Solus. The F1 is a fun and beautiful build. Love the color, the lines, and the build process. The Solus was a pretty neat build process, but it is one of the less appealing cars. The Solus just feels bulky and kind of plain. I own all previous Speed Champion builds, and the Solus is definitely in my bottom 3, while the F1 is in my top 3. Pretty strange combo. Anyways, I'd recommend it just for the F1 alone. The Solus unfortunately, I was not impressed with at all, it's just ugly.

The cars look great, but they fall apart too easily. I picked them up and several pieces came off and I ended up having to rebuild sections. My kids usually play with the cars after building them, but not a chance with these. Kids are bummed.
Horrible!

I have to say I'm surprised with number of good reviews this set has received. While the Solus GT went together easily enough, the F1 did not. The front end doesn't fit properly. I dismantled and rebuilt it four times trying to get it to fit, it just didn't want together. If fell to pieces at every attempt. Finally I decided to add a single orange block to each side, steps 94-95. This was the only way I could get the front end together. I shouldn't have to modify a kit in order to make it work. Very disappointed!
