It has a very generous surface area that can serve as a foot rest; little seat; a place to sit a tray, blankets, etc. it is not super tall, but worked perfectly with the height of my egg chair. I waited months for it to come back in stock and I do think it looks nice like the pictures. However, one of the four little legs on the bottom is shorter than the others so the stool wobbles. There's also something loose inside the "stump" that tumbles around if the stool is carried. I can't see a way to open it and take out whatever is in there, so it's a bit annoying. Seems to be a quality control issue.
