Q: How do you keep the letters stored if there isn’t a lid??
submitted by Boymomx2 - 4 years ago
A:Â It must have a slide on lid: STURDY WOODEN CASE: For easy storage and portability, this learning toy comes with a sturdy wooden case, which is compact and easy to carry.
So much fun to watch our grandson pick out the letters and say the sound of each letter!

I bought one for our neighbor boy and one for my son ages 5 and 4. Very good quality and fun for them. It helps them associate which letters go with which words and they have to really focus on each letter because they have to find it to complete the puzzle. I love that you flip it over for another word so they get more puzzles without taking up much room. As others have said it would be nice if there was some kind of lid or cover to put over it for storing. Fun and educational toy!

Great learning toy. Only complaint is that it doesn't have a cover for the top.

I purchased this for my 2-year-old triplet grandchildren, and they love it! They are beginning to develop language skills and can recognize objects and letters, so they were thrilled to connect the letters to the objects! Im sure they will enjoy for a long time!

I wish there was a way to purchase additional word boards and that there was a top for the box. Even my son asked "where's the lid?" And he's 3.

This puzzle is great for working on lower case letter recognition! The brightly colored pictures on each puzzle help early readers read the word they have just built. We have already had hours of fun playing with it! The possibilities are endless!

I love this while teaching my son to spell. The only problem is there is no letter "l"!! He can't even spell his name due to the missing letter. So sad!

Such a great toy but no top on the box makes it hard to keep all of the letters together. Please consider an easy top

Taught A Child Under 2 His Letters and Colors

This is not a toy I own personally as I don't have kids, but rather a great toy I HAVE to review as a nanny! At the time, I was nannying a child who was 18 months old, 5 days a week. He loved puzzles, and we played with this toy every single day. I started out by fitting the letters into their spots, saying the word and pointing to the image next to it, individually touching and saying each letter, then going back and doing it again but saying the individual colors. I was his nanny for six months from 18 mo to 2 years old, and progressively over time he learned it more and more, until he reached a point where I could lay out a word puzzle and ask him which letters we needed. He would dig through the letter pile and find the right ones and put them where they went-I could even say, we need an f and he would dig for the right letter until he found it! Then when the letters were all in place, I would say and sound out the word, then point to each letter and ask what letter it was and what color. He had all the letters from the set memorized and every color! As a young nanny it just blew my mind that he was so little and figured all of that out. The puzzle element really grabs their attention at that age I think and it was so cool how he figured out how to fit each one into their spaces (great problem solving skills). The toy is for 4+, but I just wanted to share how effective it was for me when working with younger children! Under adult supervision, it can be really useful for setting up your child for preschool. I just purchased one for my 18 year old niece for Christmas and can't wait to use it with her :)

So far this seems to be my 2 yr old granddaughter's favorite of the Melissa & Doug toys I purchased. She loves finding the right letters and making the words and sounding out the letters and words. She will say, 'We need to do sock S-sssss'. She loves it and we love that she is learning the basics of reading. This a great foundational toy.

Great toy for early letter and word recognition - but I'd LOVE to be able to buy more letters of the same size and style - both to replace any that get lost, and so, as our daughter's vocabulary grows, she can spell out more complex words. (She'd love to be able to spell her name and the word "school", but there's only one "L" in the set.) Please consider a companion pack of letters!
