Q: Can you mute the beeps?

submitted by rwestward - 4 years ago
  • A: I was able to mute it following the instructions (has to be done basically the second you plug it in or you'll have to do it all over again). Our power went out once so I left it unmuted.

    submitted bybu8bles - 1 year ago
  • A: Yes, there are simple instructions in the manual.

submitted byrobbidob - 4 years ago
  • A: Hi! You can turn the Beep off when you set up the unit. -G

submitted byPanasonic Team - 2 years ago
    Brand expert
  • A: Yes, as stated by customer Dirk Diggler. In the manual Page 8 under Using the Microwave for the First Time, Section 3. When you first plug it in, press Start, then Cooking Timer to toggle the Beep on or off. Works fine on mine.

submitted byTech Support - 3 years ago
  • A: NO MUTE! I bought it after at the store reading “robbidob” stating you could mute it but he was wrong. The Panasonic NN-SN67HS does not have mute or even a sound level adjustment. I confirmed this after buying the oven, taking it home, reading the manual cover-to-cover and also confirming on Panasonic’s website that you cannot mute it. Whoever said you could just did a disservice to Target and me because I am taking it back. Argghhh!

submitted by - 3 years ago
  • A: Does the keypad remain lighted at all times?

submitted byBeInformed - 2 years ago
  • A: I just read in the Owner's manual how to mute the beep. From a quick read, it's easily done for each session. I don't know if it can be set and forget.

submitted byLowTechManInHighTechWorld - 3 years ago
  • A: Yes, BUT it must be done when first plugged in, and REDONE every time it loses power for any reason and for any duration; I wrote myself a note on how to do it and put it right by the device.

submitted byThat helpful guy - 1 year ago
  • A: Yes. I just physically verified that you can mute the beeps by following the clear instructions in the manual under "Using the Microwave for the First Time". You can change the weight system between metric and imperial and turn the beeps on / off during the initial setup. If you forget to do this during the initial setup it's as easy as unplugging the microwave, plugging it back in and starting the setup process over. I have model NN-SN67HS.

    submitted byjster804 - 3 years ago
  • A: Yes, you can mute the beeps. it is in the Instruction Manual under "Using the Microwave for the First Time.". Plug in, press Start twice. Then press Timer to cycle between beep on or off.

  • A: Yes. In the manual Page 8 under Using the Microwave for the First Time, Section 3.

Q: How is its warranty length?

submitted by gsdslvn - 6 years ago
  • A: We've had the same microwave for several years of hard use, we are replacing it because the cavity is getting in bad shape - with this model.

submitted byBill - 1 year ago
  • A: Hello, when purchased as new, the unit has a manufacturer warranty of one-year mail-in/carry-in service repair, applied from the moment of purchase. As well, the magnetron part (only) has a 5-year warranty. -G

  • A: 1 year parts and labor

    submitted byDani5 - 6 years ago
  • A: One year parts and labor on everything; five years parts and 1 year labor on the magnetron. This from the manual.

submitted byDirk Diggler - 3 years ago
  • A: However once it breaks they have terrible customer service at Panasonic. Even the website is difficult to use. They very hard to find phone number was perpetually busy. I have been using the chatbot to communicate with them. I'm waiting for them to contact me, in the meantime I rely heavily on the microwave, and can't really do without it. I won't buy Panasonic ever again.

Q: Does this model have a popcorn button on front panel?

submitted by Jane - 4 years ago
  • A: The popcorn button actually has 3 levels depending on the size of the bag, however, I use the first one and just stop it at 5 seconds between pops so I don't have to start it again

    submitted bybu8bles - 1 year ago
  • A: Hi. The unit has a popcorn button. -G

  • A: Tried popping with the preset popcorn button. When it was done, there were a lot of kernels un popped still in the bag. Recommend using the timed button instead

  • A: Yes! It has a popcorn button. Although I would never recommend using a popcorn button.

Q: Does this microwave have a California Prop 65 cancer warning?

submitted by BobH - 3 years ago

  • A: I went to my local Target (in California) to physically check the packaging. This microwave does not have a Prop 65 warning.

Q: Does the oven have a add 30 second button?

submitted by Debra - 3 years ago
  • A: Hi Debra! The microwave oven has a Quick 30 button. Press Quick 30 until the desired cooking time (up to 5 minutes) appears on the display. The power Level is pre-set at P10. -G

submitted byPanasonic Team - 2 years ago
    Brand expert
  • A: Correction: The More/Less buttons are not related to the Quick 30 button. Pressing the Quick 30 button once sets the cook time to 30 seconds, and each press thereafter adds 30 more seconds. There is no way to decrease the time by 30 seconds.

submitted bystko - 3 years ago
  • A: Yes, it does. There is a "Quick 30" button that sets the cook time to 30 seconds. Pressing it again adds 30 more seconds (up to 5 minutes). To the right of the button are More and Less buttons. You can press those to increase/decrease the cook time in 30 second increments.

Q: what is an inverter microwave?

submitted by london - 3 years ago
  • A: Hi! Inverter Technology delivers a seamless stream of cooking power – even at lower settings – for precision cooking that preserves the flavor and texture of your favorite foods. Other microwaves mimic lower heat settings by turning the power on and off repeatedly, which can result in overcooked edges and cool spots in the middle. With Inverter, you can poach, braise and even steam more delicate foods, all with the speed and convenience of a microwave. You'll enjoy delicious, healthy cooking results, all in less time. -G

submitted byPanasonic Team - 2 years ago
    Brand expert
  • A: Inverter microwaves are no different than standard microwaves in terms of radiation. The only difference is that inverter microwaves have a circuit board that controls the amount of power delivered so you get more even heating. Amazing what Google can do.

The worst microwave I’ve ever used. It’s so loud, but the worst is that it cooks food WAY too high and everything has to be heated on 70% power or less in order to avoid overheating it. The plastic on the buttons panel also began to peel off after only a month of gentle use. Luckily Target let us return it.
1 reply from Panasonic Team team - 1 month ago
We deeply appreciate your feedback! The bubbling you noticed on the keypad was actually the protective film designed to prevent damage during shipping. Regarding the power level, our microwave operates at 1,200 watts, which naturally results in stronger heating compared to lower wattage models. If you prefer a lower power option, we recommend considering a model with reduced wattage for your future needs. If you have any further questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact us. -M

Volley - 2 months ago, Verified purchaser
I'm not sure if this was returned and just reboxed or not. It looked okay as I was unpacking it. Like one other view said there is a problem with the keypad and the coating. It's unclear anywhere in the instructions that there is a protective film over it that you should remove. The area to push to open the door after just one week of use show signs of wear. I understand the stanless steal but after a week it looks like it's been used for 3 years. The thing is very loud. Not sure why they need it to beed 5 times to tell you it's over. I understand at setup you can turn off the beeps but, it seems silly that it's either 5 or zero? I purchased this because my old microwave started to heat the dishes as much as the food and there was a smell. This one seems to do the same thing. I've used these dishes for many years not sure why they should have a problem now. I did change the kind of soap I use in the dishwasher, maybe it's leaving a film of something that is causing that. I just don't think it's great. If you change the power level one would think that while it's in use it would say P4 on the display screan, It does not. My very old microwave showed what the current power level was. Maybe it does too much. Whatever it does it's not that easy to figure out.
1 reply from Panasonic Team team - 2 months ago
Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and feedback with us! Kindly take note that there is a protective plastic film or membrane over the microwave keypad. The control panel is covered with a removable protective film to prevent scratches during shipping. Small bubbles may appear under this film, if this is the case, remove the protective film by applying masking or clear tape to an exposed corner and pull gently. If you require further guidance in regards to this model, please do not hesitate to contact us directly and we will be more than happy to answer your questions: https://shop.panasonic.com/contactus . -M

I had a basic 1000 watt microwave before purchasing this one as an upgrade. First of all, we had it for less than a week before it almost started a fire and filled out entire apartment with smoke which caused me and my 3 children to have to vacate the premesis as we couldn't even breathe inside. Aside from our safety being put at risk, the food stays soggy. Edges will crisp while the center stays cold and soggy. It takes longer than my previous microwave to heat food. And the sensor cook options were not great at all. I will be returning this and going back to the basics. This microwave completely turned me off from sensor cook microwaves.

It works great, the sensor reheat is spot on for example, but even for a person that works in tech, more than basic cooking does sometimes require the use of the manual!! The display doesn't really let you know it's at reduce power that I have noticed, for example. Even an Amana Radarange from 1984 was better at telling you what had been programmed and what it was doing! I'm impressed with its lack of RFI, too. It doen't bother an AM radio I run nearby at all. It seems to leak less microwave energy than previous microwave ovens I have used, too. I knew I wanted an inverter type since they have better control of cooking at reduced power. I even proved that with it plugged into a watt meter when first installed. The other reason is while a proper transformer powered microwave will usually outlast an inverter, the newer ones are using aluminum in the transformer windings, and they just are not long lived from making them so cheaply at this point. I chose a Panasonic since they hopefully just have sold their name out like so many of the others...

Pros: defrost function works well, Popcorn buttons timed nicely, Sensor cook has its merits, Beeps can be completely silenced. Cons: Must press the power button repeatedly instead of selecting a power level by number or turning a dial (I cook so often at 20-80% power that this is a nuisance after one month of ownership), The only way to increase time during cooking is to use the Quick 30 button - which is not self evident in its name - and adds 30 seconds at each press. One cannot decrease the cook time during cooking, unless using a programmed cooking function. Other cons not listed. My previous microwave was a Samsung witha dial for time selection, and although it was noisy, it was far more user friendly and lasted 6 years. If you want this Panasonic microwave, I’m selling mine (used for one month) at less than half the retail price - check your local listings! Also, I really don’t understand why Consumer Reports recommended this model - I completely disagree and would only recommend it if it’s similar competitor microwaves were far more irritating.

Debating

Bought this microwave in 2019 and loved it. It was a decent size and reliable for me with no complaints. However, when I went to unplug it this evening (2024), the third prong on the plug literally broke off in the outlet. I was being gentle pulling it out and wasn't using any force. This is a big bummer as I now need a new microwave! It shouldn't have happened. Debating whether to get this again or try a different one.

We had this for just over a year (which of course means that the one year warranty on labor and parts is done--even IF there was an authorized repair location near us). The other day it started to smell like burning and it won't heat up food. Google says that the magnetron inside the microwave is burning. The nearest Panasonic repair place to us is over 100 miles away. So now we've got a useless $155 piece of junk sitting on our counter.

Panasonic microwaves have always been good for us until we purchased this. It lasted 4 months and the magnatron is dead. Only solution is to take it a few hundred miles to a service center. Not a reasonable solution.
