Q: Why do you recommend that the produce be unwashed when stored in these containers?
A: Thank you for your interest in the Rubbermaid 4pc Freshworks Set Green. Our instructions do say not to wash produce before storing. It is likely that prewashed vegetables will not stay as fresh as we advertise which is 80% longer than most produce storage containers. However, even with being prewashed they will still stay fresher in our container longer than they would in others. You can use prewashed vegetables in our FreshWorks containers but they are not guaranteed to last as long as unwashed produce. While it’s important to wash produce before you eat it, it’s best to store it unwashed. Too much moisture can cause fruits and vegetables to go bad quickly. Wait until you’re ready to eat them before you wash them. If you need to wash them ahead of time, dry them thoroughly before you store them. Prewashed, bagged vegetables don’t generally need additional cleaning. We hope this answers your question.
