Q: i am thinking about getting this for my cat that likes to eat pull cords. I would need to be all the way to the top of the window to make sure she can't reach it. How much cord can actually be rolled up?

submitted by kat - 4 years ago
  • A: The Safety 1st® Blind Cord Wind-Ups was tested to hold at least up to 12 feet of cord. It may hold more, however, 12 feet was the max it was tested for.

NOT CHILD PROOF

So I was pretty disappointed to learn that these pop open extremely easily. I thought they would lock into place so that a child couldn’t just simply undo them and expose the cord, but no. I read the directions over and over thinking I was missing something and even had someone else take a look. The two circle pieces come apart with extreme ease. There is no point in these in regards to child safety.

These are no use. Kids can still reach cords and wrap them around their necks. All they have to do is pull on the "yo-Yo".

Absolutely worthless. Tried these on our apartment blind cords as we are expecting in October and want to make sure we protect the baby from our floor to ceiling windows blind cords. These are flimsy, they fall apart not staying closed, go up half way still leaving too much to be grabbed. Just not worth it. We are looking at other options for the blind cords that are very long.

These things are useless. They snap apart as soon as you have the cords rolled into them. They ended up in the garbage before baby even got here.

Easy to install and practical. Just seems a little flimsy. Hopefully our child won't figure these out.

Cord Wind Ups

Cord wind ups do exactly what they are meant to do. They keep blinds cords wrapped up and tidy, preventing them from dragging on floor or window sills, and keeping them from having to be tied up into a knot.

Cheap plastic, but does the job of keeping the cord up and out of reach! Looks nice without having to drill something into your wall to wrap the cords around.

The plastic on these does come apart easily if you pull underneath where you have the cord wrapped, but they are super easy to put on and keep the cords nicely wrapped up and out of reach of little ones. I highly recommend them!

A little bigger that I expected but they work just like they are supposed to. Easy to install. Took a bit longer to ship to the store than they stated so don't wait to order if you need them immediately.

It seems like they could be simpler to use, but they do work to wind out the cords so nothing small can strange in the cords.

A Waste

I bought these to help child proof and they are more of a nuisance than a help. I followed the instructions on the package for the installation and use, however, they are a pain to use. I have to "uninstall" them each time I close the blinds which comes with the added bonus of sometimes knotting the cords. I've removed them all and went back to rolling them by hand.

Work perfectly!

These work great! I highly recommend and suggest when installing to start winding the cord up from the middle of the cord stands. That way it winds up higher and tightens the cord from the top and the bottom.

It takes a couple tries, but once you figure out where to start they are very easy to put on. And the cord is out of harms way. It looks good too, better that other solutions I have seen.

LOVE these!

This is the BEST invention ever! Depending upon the length of your cords, you can use multiples of these to get rid of all excess cords! I used between 1-4 on EVERY blind in my house! Not only are they good for baby safety, but it also declutters your cords! Will be keeping these up even after my kids get older. I ordered 12 of these at first, but LOVED them sooooo much I placed a second order for 12 more! HIGHLY recommend these!
