A: There is not a book that comes with the starter set or figurines. Creative Tonies can record 90 mins of your own stories, messages or songs. Creative Tonies are sold separately and can be played on any toniebox.

If my husband weren't an electrical enginner and just amazing with electronics, this would have gone right back to the store, becasue the setup is horrible. I'm generally good with setting up all kinds of new devices, but this one had me stumped. He tried to explain why it's so horrible, but I couldn't even understand what he was saying. However, once we got it connected, it's been amazing and my daughter loves it.

Tried to set this up for hours using every device and connection possible. Ended up exchanging only to have the same problem. I happened to find that you can request a replacement with updated software directly from tonies, so waiting on that one and hoping for better luck.

Had no problem setting up. Just have to get the tonies app and put all of the requested info in and then can set up the actual tonies box. Really cute- little ones especially love that they can take the tonie off and once they put it back on the music or character talking starts up again. Definitely would recommend this for ages 5 and under. Really unique and can be used on trips without internet!!

Giving this 2 stars only because of the difficulty to set up. It The product is great after you get it started. It takes a number of steps like downloading app and finding the Wi-Fi in your home in order to work. That is all fine but we had trouble connecting to the box and we finally realized we needed to reset the box which the instructions don't really tell you to do.

Setup was horrible!!! The app failed multiple times so we tried calling customer service to be told they’re not taking any phone calls!!! What kind of “customer service” is that? You give a number to call that doesn’t work properly. I then had to YouTube instructions/help on how to setup this stupid device! Turns out using the website versus the app gets things setup smoothly. We wasted 3 days as this was a Christmas present trying to figure out how to set the device up!! Bottom line better instructions and an actual customer service department would be great!

This has been the worst product support experience!! I have tried calling and phone number never works and I have not gotten a single response to my emails. I will be returning this to target and never thinking of this again. Just feel terrible for my toddler who was really upset not being able to enjoy it after opening it for Christmas!!!! Horrible setup! After trying to set this item up for two days and even manually trying to configure the tonies box with our network, we found out that we have an old box that can be sent back, to grab one with the new technology. Wish I would’ve known before spending $100 at Target for Christmas and I could’ve bought the new version directly from the Tonie’s website.

Ridiculous setup with no real help. I work in IT and I barely was able to get it to work while trying it 10 different ways with several different devices. Got lucky and eventually was able to get it setup using a hotspot on one of our phones.

The set up was a mess like everyone else is saying BUT THE TRICK IS TO DO IT ON YOUR LAPTOP!!! We tried for HOURS on our phones and finally read a tip to do it online on our laptop and it worked immediately. As for the actual tonies box- it’s soooo cute! Our daughter loves it. Peppa sounds just like the show and it made her light up.

The app is absolutely atrocious! You need the app to get it setup but the app doesn't work. Spinning wheel of death, won't connect to the phone, won't connect to wifi. We're tech savvy, but this product is absolutely impossible. Unless you want to waste hours trying to set this up, just stay away. We were never able to get it setup and returned it.

I was so excited for my daughter to receive this on Christmas. Unfortunately, after hours of troubleshooting we still cannot get it properly connected. The connection process seems so simple but it doesn't work. We have already purchased so many individual Tonie characters that we want to figure it out but I guess we'll have to wait until we hear back from customer service. Such a disappointment on Christmas Day.

I don't believe a single one of these reviews. I found a forum online of frustrated dads like me who cannot get this thing set up. It will not work with new routers or phones. You need to have an OLD wifi network or OLD iphone to get it to work? Really $100 for something that only works with old tech? Only answers I've found online are setting up a separate guest network on your wifi, walking to the edge of your wifi network, or finding someone with an old phone. How on earth is this acceptable troubleshooting for such an expensive item? This is like two levels up from punch cards, dot matrix printing.

Setup is atrocious. Prepare for quite the headache if you have the experience we did. The instruction manual it comes with is random and vague, the app is confusing and contradictory, and the various support articles and sites are a mess. Plus the "setup support video" is private on YouTube and unveiwable. We followed the steps exactly and couldn't get it to work. After trial and error on our part, and going off the path of instruction we finally got it to work with some assumption and brains. Very complicated setup
