32" Carson Horizontal Bookcase with Adjustable Shelves - Threshold™

This bookcase is great! With that said, it took me about 3hrs to put it together myself. It would have "only" taken 2.5, but I realized as I was putting the top on that I had put one of the pieces on backwards. Thank goodness I hadn't secured the top yet. The instructions are decent, but there were times that they weren't exactly clear enough. Note also..the box was incredibly heavy when FedEx dropped it off. My driver is great and asked if I needed help when he saw me struggling to get it inside the house. It is great though, I'm very pleased with it!

I like everything about this except that the middle shelves are not adjustable.

I expect a piece of furniture that claims to be a bookshelf to be designed to hold books. However, the 2nd and 3rd shelves in the middle are fixed shelves, and are too short to hold even the shortest of books. The top trim piece may also have arrived broken.

Please please bring this back. I’m looking for this version not the tall one currently listed on the website. This one is better.

The pre holes where to big the screws would just fall in had to return it.!

Beautiful, easy to assemble horizontal bookcase

This would have been perfect if not for the chip in the top piece front and center! It was painted over, so it was chipped before shipment. Nice otherwise.

I love this shelf. It looks beautiful, it’s sturdy and is good quality. Aesthetically pleasing.

After searching for years, this looked like the perfect bookshelf for a specific place in our home. And I was right! Assembly is a bit of a challenge, and I don't think I could have done it myself. Thankfully, my son (and grandson) was willing and able. It's perfect and priced quite reasonably.

Nice looking bookshelf. Exactly what we were looking for and couldn’t find anything similar within this budget. Something significant to note: piece known as “P” was missing 5 holes that my husband had to drill in order to make this work. Appears that the manufacturer failed to pre drill these 5 holes. Besides that the assembly was straight forward, could have been a little more detail oriented but it got the job done. Hardware is packaged individually to each step which was helpful. This is the “espresso” color which appears much darker than the online photos but we prefer it like this anyways.

There are no assembly directions available online as stated.

I wanted sturdy, attractive bookcases for my sewing room. These are perfect. Very well-made and so easy to put together. Even extra hardware was included.

The bookcase arrived damaged. I paid someone to assemble it as it was for a project and the damage I discovered after it was assembled. TARGET initially wanted me to return it which was going to be problematic, obviously. I had to call them and graciously they refunded me because I could not wait for a new one to come. Pictures are just some of the highlights. I’m not sure it was damaged in shipping. It may have been damaged prior to that. I question their quality control. It had arrived in good condition. It may have been the perfect solution for the project.

The shelf color espresso is wrong. The picture in the Target app is a reddish/brown. The shelf in the box is black. I bought the reddish brown color a few years ago and love it. (Also have 2 white ones) Target needs to change the picture of it, because returning this heavy bulky item isn’t easy.

It really is a great piece. However after putting it together noticed there was a crack in the bottom shelf. Too much of a pain to disassemble to take it back. I hope it holds up.

The actual color is probably two shades darker than the advertised photo, which is not a small difference.

It's a pretty nice looking shelf that fits in well with the rest of my bedroom decor and has plenty of space. Assembly wasn't really difficult per-se, it's just a little bit tedious and takes a few hours. There's a lot of hardware, but it's all well organized, packaged together according to which step they'll be used for while assembling. It uses a mixture of dowel pegs and cam locks to join the pieces together. It may look a bit confusing at first, but if you pay careful attention to the instructions, it's not difficult to figure out, and it all comes together pretty easily. This method of assembly also makes it so that if you ever need to disassemble it for any reason, it would be relatively easy to do so. The middle shelves aren't adjustable, so they'll mainly be for small books or decorations, or large books could be layed down flat on them. The side shelves are adjustable and it's very easy to do so. All you have to do is just move the support tabs to different holes, then place the shelves on top of them. The top right corner of mine did arrive with some minor damage. And looking at the other reviews, I see that a few others also had a similar issue. In my case it was very minor, and it's not a huge deal in my opinion, but it's something to be aware of when buying. Another thing to be aware of is that the Espresso color doesn't match the pictures shown here. The pictures shown here make it look like a dark brown with a reddish tint. The actual color though is the same as any other Threshold or Brightroom furniture in the Espresso color, i.e. it's a very dark brown that will look like an off-black with subtle brown undertones in most indoor lighting.

I have 2 of the bookcases from this collection in Espresso and wanted to buy this horizontal one to put between them so the would all match. The color in the picture looked like it would match the Carson Bookshelf. But once it arrived it is more black then espresso. I just saw another review said the same thing. Very disappointed. Also was damage to one of the back corners on top which from looking at the reviews is a common issue with this collection. Was so happy with the bookshelves, but disappointed with this bookcase.
