Q: does have milk or egg ?

submitted by gr - 5 years ago
  • A: Hi Gr. If any of the top eight allergens (Milk, Egg, Fish, Peanuts, Tree Nuts, Shellfish, Soy, Wheat) are an ingredient or a component of the ingredient, the allergen will be listed in the Ingredients list or included in a "Contains" statement immediately after the Ingredients list. This is consistent with FDA labeling requirements. For products made on production lines where we produce other varieties that have different allergens not contained in the product, the line is thoroughly cleaned between productions. Due to the complexity of some of the equipment in some instances it may be difficult to clean some areas completely. Because we realize the seriousness of food allergens, in those instances, we warn consumers about the possibility of trace amounts of specific allergens on shared production lines when applicable, with a "may contain" advisory statement on the label. We recommend consumers look for these statements each time they purchase a product as formulas may change.

    Dinos melt too fast

I have to pick out the dinosaur eggs from the pack before I cook or else the eggs AND dinosaurs will be melted and gone before the oatmeal is cooked enough to serve to the kids. Its not worth the extra cost for dinos my kids never have a chance to discover nor extra labor to pick them out and add them back so the kids can discover them. Add to it the fact that the flavor itself is probably one of the worst for them nutritionally and I wish I could just buy the egg candies separately to add to my own oatmeal recipes.

    Melting Dinosaurs with Broccoli Flavor

I have a lot of nostalgia for this flavor from growing up in the 90s but after trying this again several times as an adult it doesn’t live up to my memory of it. After feeling conflicted about the flavor, I might just stick with the other oatmeal flavors. The brown sugar oatmeal itself is not very sweet, possibly to offset the extra sugar coming off the eggs. The central gimmick disappoints because by the time the oatmeal is cooked enough to soften the oats, not only have the dinosaurs hatched, they’re melting! The colors run and the shapes are unrecognizable. Furthermore I remember the dinosaurs tasting almost like candy as a kid. Now there’s an off flavor to them. My least favorite was the red dinosaurs and when I tried one by itself before cooking it I couldn’t help thinking it tasted like broccoli. A bit of research shows that at least some others have identified a vegetable flavor in the dinosaurs. Either my tastes or the recipe has changed. If it is for the sake of children’s nutrition I won’t criticize the motivation behind the change, but the colorful characters on the box may need to do the heavy lifting to sell kids on the central gimmick if the flavor isn’t there and the dinosaurs melt too quickly and I really wish that it tasted as colorful as it looks.

I used to love this product. It tasted great and easy to eat out of a mug at work. Fast Forward to now. plain and simple, NOT GOOD. the "Sugar" or something of a sticky dust sticks to your lips for many minutes while eating. something stains the spoon sticky and yellow. these are not pleasant to eat anymore. I read in other reviews that Quaker did "Product changes or improvements" my questions is this: Did anyone even test these before placing in mass production? Or did I get a bad batch. Unless things can be proven to go more back to the way it was don't waste your money. It will be sad to see Dino Eggs go away because of lack of sales. I blame the poor management style and decision making of pepsico. It's probably not nutritious and definitely tastes more synthetic than not. Quaker, you lost a long time fan unless you can prove the product has actually gotten better, not worse.

I love the concept of the dinosaur eggs in the oatmeal. Especially since my grandson loves dinosaurs. The oatmeal taste great but the dinosaur eggs melt once the oatmeal cooks. All you have left is the color of what use to be the egg. I will still buy it just to get them to eat oatmeal.

I frequently eat Quaker Instant Oatmeal but have a specific problem with the dinosaur eggs. I've tried this oatmeal a few times and threw it all up every time I did. Also, the eggs tasted odd. I recommend that you don't buy the dinosaur eggs unless you want your kid to constantly be vomiting.

My little loves the idea of this. The only thing he doesn't like is it is almost too strong of a taste. We sometimes will put regular oats in with. Bonus no artificial dyes.

I used to buy this for my older kids when they were little so it was instant nostalgia when we saw it in the store. I purchased some for my younger kids and my older ones raved to them about how they used to get it when they were little. We made it for breakfast today and, oh my goodness, when I tell you it was salty! I thought maybe my 12 son did something horribly wrong somehow so I made more and again it was outrageously salty. It was made with just the oatmeal pack and hot water, but it tasted like someone poured 1/4 cup of salt in each of the bowls. Could something have happened in manufacturing? There is no way this is the intended taste of this product.
