I purchased the 5 shelf and 3 shelf bookcases over a year ago. I found them easy to assemble but found it a little easier to have an extra set of hands. I have had other ready to assemble furniture but these are sturdier that those other pieces. I also find the details on them make them appear as a more expensive piece of furniture. I have moved them a couple of times and they have stayed together without needing any repair. They are sturdy and found them steady on carpet of tile floor. I am getting ready to purchase another set in Ebony this time. see less

Unable to get pieces to stay together despite best efforts. Unsteady and won't stay up with nothing on shelves let alone books. Unsafe for our child's room. Good directions and aesthetically pleasing but will be returning for structural frailty. see less

I bought this bookcase to use as a stand for my flat screen tv. This one goes very well with the furniture in my living room and doubles as a stand and bookcase. The wood is solid and is very sturdy. It looks like an expensive piece of furniture. The price was very reasonable. see less

I put this unit together in less than an hour by myself. The instructions were good, but the best part is that the parts were bundled and labeled for each step of the assembly, and they gave extra parts. It looks great. I put this together by myself the other morning.The bookcase is sturdy and well made, labeled very clearly, and the hardware was arranged in small packets according to direction's steps. Take your time. The only beef I had was with the locking pin and lock devices. You drop a circular lock into a hole and its corresponding bolt is tapped into its hole. HOwever, sometimes they dont jibe, because the lock's holes are drilled too deeply. I would highly recommend after step three to tap in the bolt, put the pieces in contact, and THEN insert the locking hoobyjiggy thingamabob. This way, you can turn it and make it surround the bolt instead of blindly trying to put the bolt into the lock. Other than that, it's great. Enjoy see less

I bought 2 of these and the TV stand with glass doors. I put a bookcase on each side of the TV stand and it makes my family room look so good. I bought the black my husband put all 3 pieces together in a couple hours. and he love it all. Great prices. I understand when people say so many screws but if you want it to stay together thats what you need. Also an electric screw gun doesnt hurt see less

The directions were clear and it took about a half an hour for me to put it together. It was packed well, so no damage. It was a cheap piece of furniture, so I think it is about worth what was paid. I wasn't looking for a shelf to last through time, just through childhood. I didn't expect hardwood. It is sturdy enough to hold books. Its biggest fault? On the carpet, it doesn't stand flat once books are loaded. It kinda sways forward so there is a bigger gap on the top then the bottom near the wall. I put a wall anchor in. Comes with one. and I feel better about it, but it still leans forward. I think my next step would be to put a little wedge of wood under the front of it. I dunno. I think if given the chance to repurchase, I would spend a little more to get a more stable one. see less

I needed a small bookshelf to fit in the corner of my room, and this shelf does the trick nicely. The setup is non-existant. Just open the box, take off the packaging, and unfold the shelves. It's that easy! The shelves are sturdy, and give a surprising amount of space considering the compact size. see less

No, this isn't high end, but it isn't cheap looking either. I LOVe the dark wood and style, it is sturdy enough for all my knick knacks. I keep candles, decor, etc, but I wouldnt recommend as an actual bookcase. I have gotten many compliments! see less

I really love it and it is about 1/5 of the price of the ones they sell at [$]. I disagree with a previous reviewer who said that the directions are hard to follow. I am not mechanically inclined at all and I put this together in about an hour as my husband and kids slept. You do not need any outside tools and the parts are grouped together and labeled according to each step. Grips for the ends are highly recommended....surprised that they are not included. I am actually thinking about purchasing another one for our office. see less

Overall this corner shelf is a great value...we had no problems with anything being damaged. It fit perfectly in the hallway corner. I would recommend securing to the wall if you have any small children that would possibly climb on it...hardware to secure to wall is included. see less

This is exactly as pictured! It is the perfect piece of furniture for m daughter's room, for her books and knick knacks. I bought many of the Avington pieces and they all match perfectly! My delivery came in the rain and had been sitting for hours in the rain, but everything was packed really nicely and with all the styrofoam, everything inside was dry! I've had experience assembling furniture like this, so I did not need the instructions, but overall, you don't need anything more than a Phillips head screwdriver...everything else came in the box. The pieces are real wood, except if a piece has a back piece, which is that MDF, but it is not too flimsy...as a matter of fact, once it's screwed on, it is very durable and really helps to hold everything together. I am very happy with my purchases! see less

We were looking for a bookshelf for my toddler daughter and had a hard time finding one that matched everything we were looking for, i.e. color, size, etc. We saw this thinking it was really cute and would go with anything, but I was unsure how large it would end up being. When we got it and put it together, not only is it adorable, it has more storage than I thought it would and is extremely sturdy, which is good because my daughter has already climbed into it to peer through the 'doors' at us, and she loves to line her books up in the shelves. I purchased this two years ago for my then 6 and 1 year-old daughters. I put it together by myself in a short amount of time. I put it in their room as a bookshelf and they used it that way for only 4 months when we had to put it in storage because we were moving. After it came out of storage, before I could put any books in it, my daughters moved their Barbies in and it has been their home ever since then. My girls don't seem to mind that the Barbies can only stand up on the top floor. I haven't bought them a larger one because they have had so much fun using their imagination with this one. One thing to note is that it is not very tall. I would not buy it specifically as a dollhouse for Barbies, but as a versatile piece for a young girl's room. see less

For a DYI project I say its fairly easy for 1 person to accomplish. The instructions...HA! You have to follow the rudimentary line drawings. Just make sure you set the proper length of wooden dpwls in the proper holes which was the biggest pain. It was not very descriptive regarding this step and could leave you taking it apart to remedy this. One assembled, it looks very nice and sturdy. It would be a tremendous relief of concern if you do anchor it to the wall with the hardware I did find included - Even if you do not have off-spring running around. see less

I have a corner in my master suite that was a waste of space. I have a mission style bedroom set and this blended in very well. Also, since it is small, it does not need much floor space. It was fairly easy to assemble, and it was light enough that I assembled it downstairs and then carried it upstairs all by myself. I put the shelf together by myself for my daughter's room. I anticipated it being cheap flimsy particle board. I kept reminding myself that I needed to be careful and take my time, because the material is prone to chipping. There were two dings on it when I opened the box. I was worried about the product arriving damaged, but these chips were not severe- one can't even be seen. The other is right on the front. I am a little disappointed in myself, because I put the top on upside down. I didn't realize it until I got to the last piece and could figure out how it fit. I wasn't worth taking it apart- so I drilled holes in it myself to screw the last piece on. Putting it together was pretty straight forward- except for the last piece. The wall mount is visible, which some people may not like, but it was quite simple to put on, which was good for me. The shelf looks great! see less

Cardboard back was biggest disappointment. Chip in shelf was second, but called company as instructions said, and they are sending replacement piece free of charge. Small scratches, and I'm not sure how long the paint will last. Even though it's a low price, I would not repurchase. I do not live near a target, so sending it back it too much hassle. Holes lined up well, etc. Shorter then it looks in picture. My fault for not measuring. see less

I already wrote a review on this but somehow it doesn't show to me. I love this shelf. It's heavy and durable. I actually enjoyed assembling it, too, with the way all the hardware was organized in little sections by steps. It's a great book shelf but I use it mostly for decor - in the living room it just filled up a stupid empty corner where nothing else would go. Highly recommend. By the way, my packaging was perfect and nothing was damaged. see less

I was a bit hesitant once I saw one star of a previous review but after I read it I realized I need to still buy one and rehabilitate its reputation. My package wasn't damaged and it was really heavy, which is good, because a piece of furniture like that, you want it stable and reliable. I enjoyed assembling it, too, because everything was such a good quality and all the hardware was packed in sections for part 1, 2 and so on of assembly. We had a corner in our living room that asked for something and this shelf just clicked in there. So ready to put some decor and books in it and it's ready to roll. I also appreciate that it has legs, because it's easier to run the wires behind it. It had a little scratch - paint off - on the top trim, but I decided it's not worth the hassle of return, nothing a little black sharpie couldn't fix. see less

not too happy with receiving the product. After taking the pieces of the shelf out of the badly damaged box, I was surprised to see only 1 piece broken. I could have dealt with it if it was a crack in a shelf but it was the entire side/support. The corner was busted off and it had atleast 3 cracks in the middle of the wood. Will be returning and getting my money back. see less
