This is my 3rd DSLR camera, Proud to be a Nikonian. Menus are easy to understand and functions as compared to Canons. Price is better than its competition. feature and functions are out of this world. It's roughly $ dollars more compared to the 60D. Having a dynamic range 13.9EV vs 11.5, It's water sealed and has a continuous focus in movie mode, Larger view finder and coverage, 2 SD card slots can be configures RAW & Jpeg or Jpeg and Backup Mirror mode, Or Overflow. 6fps vs 5.3fps, Has a larger sensor and overall weight it's lighter. I wished they would had bundled the 18-135mm kit lens from the D80 instead of the 18-105mm, Did I say it has 39 focus points vs 9...I suggest get the body then invest on a good glass. see less

I've always loved nikon cameras and needed an upgrade. My only complaint is having to switch to "live mode" for certain shots, which slows the shutter speed down considerably, making timing on certain shots harder to perfect. Lots of options and takes great photos and HD video see less

I own 5 Nikon DSLR bodies, along with a big pile of Nikon glass. My DSLR bodies range from a D4 and D3, through a D7000, and down to a couple of D3100s. I went to the Target store yesterday to purchase another deeply discounted/discontinued D3100. My store did not have one, and I was a bit disappointed until I noticed the superior D5100 discounted to only [$] more than the D3100. The images are indistinguishable from the images made by my D4 or D3. The camera is light and very intuitive. Pull this thing out of the box, charge the battery, slap in an SD card, select Auto mode, squeeze the trigger and be ready to be amazed. It has enough bells and whistles to satisfy my need to tweak things, and enough for you to learn to tweak things if you want to. Buy the thing! Buy a Class 10 SD card, and a couple of 52mm UV filters and screw your cap on backwards and go shoot! Get the excellent 55-200mm VR lens bundled with it. see less

After much research -and a fair amount of worry-, I took the plunge in April '12, and purchased this camera as a birthday gift to myself. I have been VERY pleased with the ease of use, photo quality, and overall performance of this camera. The kit lens is adequate for everyday use, and the controls -at first look a little overwhelming- are easily tamed with perseverence and regular use. I would recommend this item to a friend -- and DID -- she purchased her D5100 just last month! see less

Most people say they shouldn't trust Samsung to make cameras, that other companies like Cannon and Nikon are better. The facts are that this camera is amazing. I've compared it to many other cameras (Cannon and Nikon) and they don't even compare to this camera. I love this camera and I would purchase it again for a gift for a photographer. see less

I love the fact that this camera has a 3" screen. It's very compact and yet has some really great features for a reasonable price. The 'magic screen' feature allows you to choose from 12 different picture backgrounds that you can add to your photos which I love! This is a nifty little camera that I picked up and without reading the manual figured out some of the main features. I would definitely recommend this to my friends and family. see less

I bought this camera on the recommendation of a photographer. I told him I wanted an easy to use camera for once in a lifetime photos on a European vacation plus those once in a lifetime photos at home. This camera was my first digital and I love it. I have had it for 8 years and have barely used all the settings, mostly just use auto. Everyone comments on my great photos, I credit the camera. I love that I can put the camera in my coat pocket or small bag with out toting around a camera case. I did buy a bigger longer zoom camera for a trip this spring. I bought it on recommendations on Amazon and it was a waste of too much money. Terrible photos, hard to hold, bulky. This Panasonic is far, far better. I did drop it in a parking lot this summer, it is still working but has a black spot on the screen. I will use it till it quits and then buy another. LOVE IT! see less

This camera takes excellent pictures and the zoom clarity is also excellent BUT it only lasts a couple of years before the focus wears out with or without the zoom and it is VERY expensive to have it fixed. So if you buy this camera, do NOT forget to purchase the warranty because you ARE going to need it. see less

choosing 60d over 650d/700d, i think this cam still a good choice even though its old, i like the photos coming out of the camera sharp and good colors, top lcd is very useful i hardly use the lcd screen for changing my settings, i also like its ergonomics; you just have to be familiar with it and you'll see, also viewfinder really bright compare to cameras with pentamirror vf, last the battery life "very solid" you'll never worry about it; and you can focus on taking photos see less

Bought this camera to upgrade from a Rebel XSi, and boy what a surprise. Camera is super fast, and pictures are pristine. The top display is really convenient, and the new camera software works great for frequently accessed menus and sub-menus. Would deffinetly recommend as an upgrade over the T4i. Have not used the Video portion of it, since Im not interested in this feature. see less

I purchased the 60D a year ago and it has been extremely handy as my backup and all around travel type camera. I noticed recently it had some dust spots on the sensor. I was surprised since I used L series lens on it and do not change any lens out in the field. A local shop cleaned the sensor for me fixing the problem. It is handy, great pictures and I have recommended it to more than one person I know. see less
