I just recently purchased this unit to help cool my bedroom and it works wonderfully. I am in an one bedroom apartment and it actually can cool the whole apartment- not very cool if you do it this way, but does keep the temperature down with the help of fans. If you isolate this to just one room though, it works fantastically. Easy to install as well. see less

I live in a small apartment that tends to get really hot during the summer time. Bought this A/C at the beginning of the summer and even though it won't cool the whole apartment, it's very effective in colling down the bedroom, I even have to sleep under the covers most of the time. I took a chance and bought two of these units. I'm happy I did. The unit is sleek looking, it takes the humidity out of the air and cools the room rather quickly, especially if you close the door and pull the shades down. It's not any louder than most air conditioners so I'm not sure what folks are complaining about with respect to noise. It's not suited for a big room, as I quickly learned, but then again it only has 8,000 btu's. Great for small bedroom, office or to assist with a hot room when your central system is not cooling well enough. Also, I turn my central system off at night and use these units and set the timer as well, no sense in cooling all the bathrooms, empty bedrooms, kitchen, hallways, laundry room, etc while I sleep. see less

We just bought ours because our house unit went out and we don't have the money to replace it so we decided to go with this portable air conditioner and its worked fantastic. I have no complaints and no regrets for buying this.If you want a good cool room this is the one for you!! see less

We live in a dry, desert environment and this unit works perfectly. Cools our room fast. For example, it was 90 degrees in-room when we first started it, we set it to 61, doesn't go lower than that, and after about 5 minutes we could really feel the difference. We turn it off when the room is cool enough, about 75, to conserve electricity. Our room is about 10x10 and our TV and computers make the room hot. The exhaust tube gets pretty hot, makes me think that the air conditioner competes with that heat as well. Love it, totally worth it. see less

This is a great AC unit for my second story 12x14 bedroom. Heat has been in the 90's and we stay very cool all night. It is very quiet, I can hear my tv from across the room while this is cranked on high. see less

Bought this in Summer of 2010, for a second story spare bedroom being used as a computer/hobby room. It gets quite hot on the second floor, even with 24" of insulation in the attic. This unit has been a real money saver, as it takes quite a bit of effort for the central air to reach the opposite end of the house comfortably. So instead of of cranking the Central air down to 32 so it would be 75 in the PC room, we opted for this window unit. It cools efficiently enough for a warm PC room. I would have rated it a 5, but the "Energy Saving" mode is puzzling at best. All in all, money very well spent. My condolences for those that had problems. I'm smiling all the way to the bank!!! see less

not sure why the bad reviews, but it works great in our 13x10 room. of course, when battling 100degree texas heat - it will get to about "80" - but it's actually a lot cooler feeling than truly being 80.our home a/c unit broke for 3 days & we stayed couped in our room and it worked great.the remote feature is awesome, and we are using it everyday! see less

Can't say positively but read other makes and models have the "waterfall" feature. It could be a cooling aid for the coils and from what I have read, it makes sense. I have a similar model and it has worked great for 4 years with MANY hours of use. If you can tolerate the soothing sound of a rushing tide... see less

I needed to replace my old window unit so I checked out various models and since I liked my old one, went with the same make only updated - better filter, too. This one seems quieter than the old one. I had to buy a new one because of allergies; after eleven years it was not possible to really clean it well. But, it still worked. I gave it to a family that needed a window unit and could not afford one. This one is the right price and right size. Glad I was able to get it. see less

I bought this unit the week it was on sale for [$] and it was worth it for that price. And the fact that it is energy star certified is great! It does it's job-it keeps the rooms cool (a 13X14 bedroom and a 10x8 bedroom, across the hall from each other)I do own a Frididare for my bedroom that gets much colder than this one, but that's ok, it's keeping my kids are cool and that's all that matters! see less

Purchased this 10,000 btu window a/c, installed it and on startup was very disappointed. It was LOUD, considerably louder than the 12,000 btu Haier unit it replaced. The fan, even on Low, was so loud I could hear it two rooms away. High, as you might expect, was even louder, and another problem was there were only two speeds, not three: clicking from Low to High made a difference in fan speed and noise, clicking from Low to Medium and back several times, no difference, so basically there are only two speeds to choose from. Got this for a great price at Target, but it's not worth putting up with the fan noise, [........] see less

I got 2 of these, they both ice up very easily, even with 80 or hotter outside, are noisy, one of them motor bearing is very loud after 1 year of use, dont seem to cool as rated, [...............] Use CAUTION if considering 10k Haier AC. see less

When i looked at the prices of the portable air conditioners, I could not believe the prices. I ended up spending the extra $100 on this versus the off brand a/c units because every time I go with the off brand with any appliance I have been unhappy. This unit shipped fairly fast , 3 days faster than the estimated date which target is very good at getting the shipping out fast. The unit is much bigger than I anticipated and fairly heavy. I have the roll out windows so we needed this kind of unit versus the window unit. YES you need to exhaust this unit!!!!! It is the only way to exchange air from the outside to get it to function properly. I searched for months to figure out how to do this with a roll out window. We used our smallest roll out window and duct taped the hose unit to the outside and put cardboard above it , you can also cut plywood to fit it ..even better. You have to do what you have to do to get a/c when you live in a house with all roll out windows! The first part of june this year we were SO HOT in this house i felt like bringing a kiddy pool inside but ever since we got this unit we are totally cool even on the hottest of days. It cools down our entire house which is a small 2 br one floor with 3 other rooms. If you put fans around it helps circulate the cool air so you will not suffer. if your using this to cool down one room you are really all set because it will be soooo cold in that one room if you use it for just a room. It also has a dehumidifier built in which also is helpful and a remote control that goes right into the side compartment so you dont lose it.It has wheels so you can push it around because like i said its REALLY HEAVY. And the drainage thing is not a problem. Some people say they have to drain it every like 6 hrs..well we really only have to drain it more like once a week and we use it EVERYDAY! I would rate this a 4 star because its great besides the price I wish these things were cheaper but hey thats just how it is. see less
