I love my rug doctor. I've only had it for 6 months, but the quality is great and it cleans so well. Previous cleaners I've purchased didn't clean nearly as well and broke after 2-3 years. This one cost about twice as much, but I believe it will be well worth it. It works the same as the rug doctors you can rent, which is nice because you can try it before you buy it. I loved my ProHeat 2X for several years, yet I decided it was time for something more powerful for my parents carpets. They hadn't been cleaned in nearly 10 years. The Big Green was exactly what I needed. Because the carpets needed industrial-strength care, I wanted to tackle the house a few rooms at a time, and having the convenience of my own machine, I was able to work at my own pace. This allowed me to systematically tackle a BIG job, with little wear and tear on ME. Well worth buying, rather than renting a machine, and with the condition of the carpets, hiring a professional would certainly have exceeded the cost of purchasing my own machine -- so glad I "bit the bullet". I have a senile, incontinent cat with chronic diarrhea. She quit using her litter box for number two several months ago. I have the puppy pads all over the place but she still manages to find a spot on the carpet to go. I was hand cleaning this and after the accidents piled up I would drag out my full size carpet cleaner and go over all the spots. I bought the SpotBot Cleaner and use once or twice a day. I check the carpet in the morning for accidents, wipe up what I can with a paper towel, place the SpotBot over the mess, push the button and walk away. After vacuuming and deep cleaning our carpets, my husband said they looked like new. I agree & am especially happy with the way the heavy traffic areas turned out. (We have a dog, 2 cats & live in the woods w/ sandy soil.) The house has never felt more clean. It is helpful that all the pieces come apart & are easy to clean/rinse (if you have a utility sink). A huge plus is that the Bissell cleaning products are biodegradable so I don't have to sacrifice the environment for having a clean home. Totally satisfied! see less

I did get this in the mail, last week. looks pretty tough. Haven;t used it yet, but it looks great. So many attachments to use. Also I have 3 dogs, so this will do the trick. Very sturdy, and big to. A little more heavier then what I thought in the picture when I ordered it. Ask me again in 1 to 2 months, how it is. Cause I just had professionals come in and do the rugs for Christmas. I've rented a carpet cleaning machine from the grocery store twice a year for five years now. It costs around 50 dollars with each rental, plus the time it takes to haul the thing back and forth. I've been looking into buying a carpet cleaner for sometime, but spending an arm and a leg is a great deterret. When I saw this machine, at this price, with all of these great reviews, it was like a match made in heaven. My cleaner arrived last night and I cleaned all of my carpeted spaces in the same time it takes for me to vacuum them. I am thrilled with the results, and with the machine. It's incrediably light weight and easy to use. It's easy to clean too, and I was able to clean two bedrooms, a hallway and large great room with just two tanks of water/solution. I love it! And I'll probably use it again this weekend! see less

I dont use the cleaning solution because of allergies. Just fill tank with warm water and a teaspoon of baking soda. Then clean again with only sparkling water in the tank. it pulled a ton of old soap out of the carpet in my new apartment. The carpet dries in a couple hours beautifully. I want to buy a couple more water tanks, so I can swap solutions as I clean. (Keep sparkling water in the frig to keep it fizzy). I dump dirty water in a bucket as I clean. to save trips see less

I have a studio apartment 400 square feet of carpet it was new carpet when I moved in but had a few spills her and there. My house was very dirty before we received our Hoover Max Extract 60 Pressure Pro from Mom Central. I have two children, two cats, and we entertain often at our house which is all carpet besides the kitchen and bathrooms. I put it together myself, no help from my husband, and I had two kids climbing on me so that should show how easy it was. I cleared out the furniture and vacuumed the room first. I was amazed at how easily it moved across the floor like pushing a regular vacuum which being pregnant and already having bad issues I could not have done it if was a heavy machine. Very easy to use. It held a large amount of water so only one trip to clean it out. Great suction so my carpet was dry in no time. I have even used the upholstery tool and it was easy to use with such a long hose. When I was done, I just cleaned out the dirty water and set the Max Extract upright in my basement. I received a sample of this product to facilitate my review, but my opinions are entirely my own. see less

This is a great carpet cleaner, we have the MaxEtract All Terrain as well and love that too. I would have like the upholstery/carpet brush to have the proscrub like my all terrain but I believe it will work on this cleaner. The first time I used it was to clean a new pillowtop mattress that my five year old spilled something on, it worked like a charm. I do not use chemical cleaners so I like that the soap compartment allows me to mix my own. I use a cap of Sol-U-Mel and a couple of caps of Tough and Tender and it cleans everything and leaves no bad odor after like many carpet shampoos do. If you are looking for a affordable carpet cleaner with attachment you will be very happy with this. see less

This was so easy to put together. All I needed was a screwdriver and the directions! It was set up and ready to use in ten minutes. There are two 1gallon tanks, one for the clean water, and another for the dirty water that you are left with. The tanks themselves are easy enough to remove and fill and then put back on for use again and again. This is very loud and does take a bit to dry, so keep that in mind when planning your cleaning. I liked the Heated Cleaning as it did speed up drying time. I did have quite a few set in stains left from juice, candy, and soda that had been spilled from parties, but they are not nearly as noticeable as they were originally...and my carpet? It looks fantastic! I have complete faith that with continued use of this product even those stingy stains will come out! Anyone looking for a wet-vac? I WAS until this morning. HIGHLY recommend the Bissell 2x found at Target. Online it states 199.99 -- however, at store it is on CLEARANCE for 169.99. Used my Target 'red card' and saved an additional 5percent! If you have dogs, if you have children, if you have sloppy relatives -- get this machine. I cleaned the floors yesterday with the 'old' Bissell -- this one 'showed' me what the other was missing ... it was gross, but boy do I feel better about my floors! And the house smells FRESH...not stale. It cleaned my carpets better than Stanley Steamer! see less

I know some want to knock this cleaner but I have had mine at least 11 years. I hated the old bladder container so I hope they have a newer better container when I buy a new one, but over all it has been a very good cleaner. I bought mine in 2003 and it is just now acting a bit cloggy in 2013 so I guess it is time for a new one, but I got my money's worth out of it as I have cleaned many a room/stairway/sofa with it. The carpet dries pretty well afterwards and you can use almost any cleaner with it. see less

I ve had mines since 12/2010 and it worked fine. I have a small dog that misses the wee pad at times and a Daughter whos hair wraps around the brush after a while... I have had to take the brush off, to remove the hair at times... Now the water doesn't spray out the bottom, i assume the hole is clog since the spray attachment does work. I found a suggestion on the site that you should fill the tank with PLAIN warm/hot water and flush the system after use with cleaning formula / fluid as this may dry over time and cause clogging. All in All.. i was very happen for 2 years Hope this comment helps for the next person see less

I have to say, I was skeptical that this would remove the months old stains on my carpet...but it totally did. I have a dog who had quite a few accidents while being house trained, and although I had used other pet carpet cleaners there were still stains! I had just kind of resigned myself to the fact that I would have to live with it. But I kept seeing Bissell commercials (kudos to your Marketing and Advertising folks for the perfectly placed ads) and decided to give this a try. And it worked. Literally the stains are gone!! Oh Bissell, I am not one to EVER write reviews however, I had to write regarding an incident that occurred with my dog last night. Apparently my poor pup had 3 serious bouts of stomach issues around 5 a.m. and managed to leave 3 large piles of something unidentifiable. Two were embedded in my daughters pink shag carpet and one on a low pile cream colored carpet in front of my eldest son's room. Now, I am not very good with these types of accidents. Area rugs and towels typically get thrown away in our home when this occurs. I know, I know I am sure you are thinking "TMI"-too much information about your dog and life lady. So my first thought was ..."Oh no I am going to have to replace this carpet" I immediately jumped online and started researching steam vacuums so I could run out and purchase something and get the "issue" dealt with in a timely manner. I was looking for something portable as our home is a bit on the larger side and I wanted to be able to easily carry it up and down the stairs, etc.. All reviews lead me to the Bissell Spot Clean. It took two Large Box retail stores to find it. as the first one was out of stock on this item. I Bought it, brought it home and with a little effort it seriously removed all 3 stains! I actually could not believe it. My children came home from school and my oldest said "wow, I cannot believe that actually came out" This saved me both the expense of a professional steam cleaner and/or a trip to the carpet store. Thank you Bissell!!!! Now if you could only solve my dog's shedding and dog hair issue! My current two vacuums, one which was remotely expensive, DO NOT seem to get the matted dog hair off of the few shag rugs in our home, regardless of everyday vacuuming. I wanted something to clean the upholstery that wasn't just a surface clean. I have tried sprays and wipes which really didn't do that great a job. The sprays seamed to attract more dirt. I have researched and read so many reviews. So, I decided go ahead and spend the money to buy this unit. I am so glad I did. I regularly vacuum my furniture, but knew that it needed more. Boy, was I right. I used it this week and could not believe the dirt that was left in the tank. If you are on the bubble as to whether to buy this or not, go ahead and do it. I have an older pet who sometimes has accidents and this cleaner has been wonderful for cleaning up those accidents and removing any stains. This has been a great cleaner and has gotten a lot of use. This machine has done well for me. I did have the suction issue a few times because the front panel on the bottom tank was not in the correct position. It came out of place easily when removed for cleaning or when using the attachments. See the troubleshooting video on loss of suction. I have pets and have used this over 20 times in 2 years to clean up puke and pee pee-works great! see less

I received this as a gift and I am so glad! Living in a condo, I don't have a lot of unused storage space. This cleaner is smaller that most, the handle compacts, is light weight, easy to use and cleans like a champ. I was looking at larger, more heavy duty cleaners and am glad that I got this one before buying something else. It's easy to pull out and clean throw rugs as well as full carpets. This little machine is fabulous for quick spot cleaning and heavy traffic areas. It is not the solution for whole home carpet cleaning, nor should it be considered an alternative to professional cleaning (or a more sophisticated deep cleaner) I use it to clean the hallways, entrance and anywhere else to pick up spilled food, tracked in dirt or whatever between professional cleaning. But you have heard all of that before..... If you ever thought about getting one of these little cleaners and were not certain that it could do the job, Let me tell you a story about how this little machine saved a carpet and how Bissell became the ONLY steam cleaner I will ever use. I recently painted the entire interior of my house, by myself. It took me several weeks to do the job, working one room at a time. (the whole house is carpeted) so furniture had to be moved out and dropcloths put down to protect the carpet from paint. Just as I was putting the last room back in order I noticed a spot missed on the ceiling. I put down a drop cloth under the spot and got my step stool brush and paint to touched up the spot. I prepared to step down and missed the step and I fell, not hurt, but the paint landed upside down on the carpet. I watched while paint spread over the carpet in horror. I had no time to get to the hardware store to rent a cleaner. So I grabbed my ReadyClean and a bucket of water and went to work. It wasn't easy, (and I hope I never have to do it again) but the ReadyClean picked up all of the paint (about half a gallon) I kept the paint diluted with water and managed to use the little cleaning machine to extract the paint! It was amazing. Not only did it save the carpet, but it still works perfectly (after some serious cleaning) These are great little machines. see less

I purchased this steam vac to clean my carpets myself. After having company not show up repeatedly I gave up on waiting and wasting time on others. Used steam vac first time yesterday and my carpets are clean; plus was able to clean on my own time. I have not had any problems as far as stopping to clean and empty the waste tank. For what I paid, [$], I don't think there is a better carpet shampooer available. While it is a bare bones, no frills unit, it does the job very well. It has excellent suction and cleans the carpet very well. My carpet was completely dry after a few hours. It is simple to assemble and clean. It doesn't heat the water but the cleaning tank is small enough that the water is still very warm as it's finishing. Even at the regular price, I'm not sure you can do better. It is able to clean stains my entry level Bissell upright could not. My only gripe is the recovery tank has a smaller capacity than the water/solution tank. This is a very stupid decision by Hoover. You're forced to stop cleaning 3/4 of the way in to empty the tank. This gives the cleaning mix more time to cool; not good. But despite this one design flaw, I'm very pleased with this cleaner. see less

If you have pets, you need to get one of these steam cleaners. This model will do everything you need and will save you money in the long-run from renting a[....] at the grocery store that has been used in other's homes.Consumer model steam cleaners have made vast improvements over the past 10 years, and this is a good example of what improvements have been made. This model heats the water as it is applied to the carpet, has a power-brush AND a power brush attachment for furniture, AND does hard floors. Here is an example of how impressed I was with the Hoover ATSV. I had a pet stain that was over a year old that I tried cleaning with my old, cheaper extraction cleaner. It just would not come out and would not stop stinking. I used this cleaner and both the stain and the smell were removed at my first try. I also use it on my couches. I paid slightly more for this unit than any of the other machines Target had in their store. I'm glad I did. We hadn't had our carpets professionally cleaned for two years and it was really beginning to show. This machine, with its separate clean water and recovery tanks, did a great job. I used the hose attachment for the stairs and likewise worked great. It's 10 minutes to set up, 10-15 to clean and put away. I'd highly recommend this machine. see less
