Bumbu is inspired by a true Caribbean legend. In the 16th and 17th century, sailors and merchants that did not like the taste of the traditional rums being produced, started blending in Caribbean fruits and spices and called the new rum "Bumbu". Today, Bumbu represents the newest chapter of a historic story. Bumbu Original is made at a historic Barbadian distillery, founded in 1893, from a mix of first-class sugarcane that is specially selected from eight countries across the West Indies. While most distillers must chemically treat their water before using it, Bumbu is distilled, blended and bottled using Barbados's pure, naturally coral-filtered water. Utilizing two continuous stills, and a distillery-secret strain of yeast that dates back to 1840, the finished blend is then aged in once-used, grade-A bourbon barrels for up to 15 years. The final product offers a unique taste experience unlike anything else in the Rum category. Aromas of vanilla, soft caramel and oak open lead to notes of roasted nuts, cinnamon, bananas and allspice.
