About the Book

From burden to blessing--Get to Work by pastor and author Jonny Ardavanis helps you see your work as a divine calling, inviting you to partner with God and find profound meaning in your daily life as you learn how to work, rest, and steward your time for His glory and your enjoyment.

Book Synopsis

Learn to avoid both passivity and burnout by discovering God's glorious design for work--and how to labor, rest, and steward your time in ways that glorify God and maximize your joy.

The average person will spend 90,000 hours working--a staggering third of their life. For many, these hours feel like a necessary burden, something we have to do. But what if work isn't a punishment to endure, but a privilege to embrace--a divine "get to" rather than a grim "got to"?

In a time of contradictory messages about work, hurry, and rest, pastor and author Jonny Ardavanis dives into Scripture to help you see work as a divine calling, guiding you to partner with God and find profound meaning and purpose in your daily work, whether you're a plumber, a CEO, or a stay-at-home mom. Full of powerful insights and rich biblical truth, Get to Work will help you:

• Discover God's original, pre-fall design for work as a joyful act of creation and cultivation, transforming your perspective on your daily tasks
• Identify how the fall corrupted work, leading to the twin dangers of soul-crushing workaholism and passive living
• Learn how to work with enthusiasm, excellence, and integrity--not to earn your identity, but as an act of worship and love for your neighbor
• Reclaim the lost art of true Sabbath, moving beyond mere escapism to build rhythms of rest and leisure that genuinely refresh your body, mind, and spirit

Get to Work isn't just another book about finding work-life balance or boosting productivity. It's an invitation to rediscover what you were made for.

Review Quotes

Jonny's explanation of the biblical perspective on work has completely changed the way I approach what God has called me to do. His teaching has made me a better follower of Jesus, husband, father, friend, and leader by helping me see work as an act of worship instead of a burden. This perspective helped replace the pressure to perform with the freedom to work joyfully for the Lord, and I believe it will do the same for countless others.--Colby Parkinson Tight End, Los Angeles Rams

Finally -- a Biblical book that answers the 'what, ' 'why, ' and 'how' of God-glorifying work. While much ado has been made in Christian circles about the importance of rest, what's often lost is that rest is only necessary after the hard work's been done. Get to Work effectively makes the case for productivity as a gift both from and to the Lord.--Allie Beth Stuckey, host of Relatable

Get to Work is a bracing shot of spiritual adrenalin -- an injection that is so needed by today's church. And, more, it is a gripping theological page-turner which takes us on a scenic ride through the sacred text from Genesis to Revelation -- showing how the divine call to work is rooted in creation and consummated in Heaven. The book's carefully wrought chapters provide a momentum that draws the reader upward to a soaring climax with a mind-expanding, heart-thumping, 'I can't wait until I get there!' chronicle of the joyous, awaiting, eternal work of the redeemed. This is a very important work -- a motivating declaration that will inject every believing heart with heaven's energy.--R. Kent Hughes, author, Disciplines of a Godly Man, Senior Pastor Emeritus of College Church in Wheaton

The dignity of work is one of the great themes of biblical theology, based in creation order itself. It is also one of the great affirmations of authentic Christianity, particularly as it was recovered in the time of the Protestant Reformation. I'm so thankful for Jonny Ardavanis, for his expository ministry and for his keen attention to work as God's good gift. I highly commend this volume.--R. Albert Mohler, Jr., President - The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary
