Henry's Golf Day - by Mina Javaherbin (Hardcover)

Book Synopsis

A young boy attempts his first round of nine with the encouragement of his beloved aunt in a warm, funny picture book exploring the joys and pitfalls of leaning a new sport.

In an ode to intergenerational bonds and the value of exposing kids to new experiences, the challenges--and rewards--are formidable in this pitch-perfect story from an award-winning author and a #1 New York Times best-selling illustrator. When his aunt pulls up in her bright orange car, young Henry is hesitant about taking on his first round of golf, but he loves spending time with Auntie M and would go anywhere with her. After sliding on his aunt's own childhood golf glove, he feels ready for anything, whether or not he knows the rules . . . Expect physical comedy at play in both text and illustrations as Henry swings, misses, and falls; startles bunnies and squirrels on the course; crashes a tree branch onto a golfer's hat; and otherwise finds himself in some sandy and watery situations. But what does any of that matter when he is with his favorite person, enjoying the great outdoors? For children just learning about golf, a glossary in the back matter introduces some terms and rules of the game.
